Matthew 12:40

OK, since you didn't say your comments were AI generated, I didn't know they were the ones to which you were referring.

So, can you show how they provide actual instances where a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with a event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could be?

And that is important to you why?

I said why in post #476.

But why do you need to know that in order to show how your AI comments provide actual instances where a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with a event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could be?

It seems like it's more than just simple curiosity.

Because it seems like you have ulterior motives.

Even if I did, why would you need to know in order to provide examples?
There's no question about if and I've already provided examples. So why don't you tell me why you are obsessing over this?

Please explain where the Genesis account shows where a daytime or a night time was involved with an event when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could be.

Pick a lane.
I don't understand what you're asking. Please explain.

BTW, you offered Genesis 42:17-18 as an example where a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or a night time could be. You still haven't explained why you think that the passage does that.

What's to explain? We agree that in the Bible 3 days does not necessarily mean 72 hours.

What's to explain?
What you mean by "pick a lane".

We agree that in the Bible 3 days does not necessarily mean 72 hours.
What is your point with regard to your referencing of Genesis 42:17-18 as an example where a daytime or a night time was said to be involved with an event when no part of a daytime or a night time could be?

that in the Bible 3 days does not necessarily mean 72 hours. You agreed with that already.

You say that your point in referencing Genesis 42:17-18 is to show from the Bible where 3 days does not necessarily mean 72 hours. True. But that is an issue for a different topic. Once again, the only concern of this one is the providing of examples which show that it was common in the first century or before to say that a daytime or a night time would be involved with an evert when no part of a daytime or no part of a night time could be.

Why? Don't you already accept it as true?

I've said a couple of times that I agree that 3 days doesn't have to equal 72 hours. I guess I don't understand what the "it" is that you are referring to.

There were 2 events that took place when Christ died. A High Day Sabbath which is annual and the weekly Sabbath. We try to fit Christ's 3 days and 3 nights in according to our limited understanding. Christ didn't die on Friday.

Passover that year was on Wednesday, with an annual High Day Sabbath following on Thursday when nothing got done. On Fri. when the shops reopened after the High Day Sabbath, the women bought the oils and spices for Christ's body before sundown when the weekly sabbath was beginning. Nothing got done on Saturday, the weekly sabbath. On Sunday the women went to the tomb, and Jesus wasn't there.

Wednesday night to Thursday morning = 1st night
Thursday = 1st day
Thursday night to Fri. morning = 2nd night
Friday = 2nd day
Friday night to Saturday morning = 3rd night
Saturday = 3rd day

When the women showed up on Sunday, they were met by an angel.

There is no such thing in Judaism as a "High Day Sabbath."

Maybe a diagram will help:

or maybe a video:

A “high Sabbath” is any one of the seven annual festivals commanded by God for the Israelites in the Old Testament books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy. Leviticus 23 explains the rules for the weekly Sabbath and then goes through the other days throughout the year that required a “sabbath rest” in which no customary work could be done.

The Gospel of John says the day following Christ’s death and burial was a high Sabbath, or, as the NIV puts it, “a special Sabbath” (John 19:31).
