Well here's the answer to the OP's question. Progressives choose to ignore the problem of Islam because they are so afraid of being called a bigot or racist, even though Islam isn't a race, it's an ideology.

According to progressives, a belief system doesn't commit violence, individuals do. That must mean Nazism doesn't commit violence, so with their logic, to hate Nazism would be "bigotry".

So I wonder, why don't progressives defend Nazism, like they do Islam. Both after all share a lot of common beliefs. They hate Jews, they hate homosexuals, they both preach violence, yet to them only one is a hateful ideology, the other is a peaceful religion with just a few misunderstood individuals that act out on their own.

The rest of us non-progressives on the other hand, recognize that Islam is a hateful ideology that has a long history of violence and war. They openly hate and oppress Jews, Christians, Hindu, atheists, gays, and women, not to mention their long history of rampant child molestation.

Progressives then, like now, embraced the German critics of natural right who had established the modern rational state. The political science of the German administrative state germinated the Progressive idea of social and political evolution.
