The Rev Andrew Foreshew-Cain announced his election to the Church of England’s parliament with a message on Twitter declaring “No Surrender” in the campaign for a more accepting stance on homosexuality.

He said he hoped his election, alongside that of a handful of other openly gay clergy and laity, would create a more “caring and compassionate” church.

For any other job, it would be irrelevant. But for a church position? Hmm. Not my business though.

What does loving ones neighbor have to do with the idea that priests should try to live the gospel?

church clerics were married till the 16th C. Other Christians than the RCC have clerical marriage. Orthodox within the RCC have married priest. RCC now permits married priests under certain circumstances.

Marriage in the RCC is not a problem, but for the moment gay marriage is. As far as other denominations, they each have their own rules.
