That is a half-billion dollars in food that never got to the hungry to begin with...but into the pockets of USAID officials and executives. A half-billion dollars in food never got to the starving for anyone to remove.
Are you aware that USAID is one of the most depended on aid agencies in the world and has saved tens of millions of lives?

I find the tens of trillions of dollars we have spent on poverty since the 1960's a disgrace since it has not stopped the poverty. 37 trillion dollars in debt. We even have TV commercials with children going to sleep at night hungry.
That ended decades ago. We went into nation building or whatever else and interfered with people and doing the world policeman act with American citizens visiting areas and getting the reputation as the ugly Americans. Some jealousy has turned into outright hatred. The innocence ending started around the end of the 19th century, gained a massive traction in 1913 and was lost after WW 2.
You must know that the US Department of State took this over and is providing food and food assistance. The proper question to all Americans is what percentage of the federal budget should be providing for the poor in other countries. Budgeting is the purview of Congress.
