Manufacturers moved to China so now they can pay to move themselves back.

Trickle down economics is the rich pissing on the poors head.

Trickle down capitalism is really flood down capitalism. Here is a list of stuff that has recently been invented by the rich and flooded down to the poor and middle class:
You don't need to be an economist to see how rich the middle class got by looking at all the new inventions they could suddenly afford in the last 10 years: suddenly we had plasma TV's, LCD TV's, DLP-TV's, iPods, iphones, CD's and CD players, DVDs and DVD players, Blue Ray and Blue Ray players, PCs, desk top PCs, DVRs, color printers, satellite radio, Advantium ovens, HD-TV, Playstations, X-Boxes, X-box live, X-box Konnect, broadband, satellite TV, cell/camera/video phones, digital cameras, OnStar, palm corders, Blackberries, smart phones, home theaters, SUVs, big houses, more houses per capita, TiVo, 3D movies and TV's, built in wine coolers, granite counter tops, $200 sneakers, Go Pro Cameras, GPS navigation, consumer drones, color matched front loader washing machines, internet Facebook, Pandora, LTE-U, run flat tires, matching washer dryer combinations, McMansions, 4K TV, Iphone 6+, burner commercial ranges, Sub Zero refridgerators, Tesla cars, private space flight, more cars than drivers, a $1 billion ring tone industry, a pet industry that just doubled to $34 billion, 10's of millions lining up to buy Apple's I-tablet, Wii, Fit bits, Apple watches, Netflix boxes, jet skis, induction cooking, low profile tires, aluminum/titanium rims, Harley Davidson and Japanese motorcycles. $700 Billion spent Christmas 2010, $10.5 billion movies 2010, 10 million ocean crusies, 44 million taking plane flights over 2012 holiday, $500 billion spent on Christmas 2012, hover boards, Ti Vi Bolt, Tesla cars, cloud storage, 4k Oled TV,
hover boards, Ring Doorbells, semi self-driving cars, Amazon Alexa,
The list goes on and on. I hope that helps you realize you can't just parrot the communist press and expect to make sense? They have other objectives and are merely using you to promote their point of view.

It's a necessary trade-off. If it works, you will regain employment in the U.S and the subsequent tax revenue and economic activity it creates.
BS of course. we could make international trade illegal and regain tons of employment but it would impoverish us not make us richer. Why on earth do you think we have free trade?

Here's the thing.

China will continue to manufacture these items at a much lower cost. The same items, manufactured in the US will cost much more in the same marketplace.

Public sectors and private sectors on budgets will buy the lower cost of two identical items. Eventually, the domestic manufacture will collapse.

We're the third largest source of goods imported into China. 3rd largest. This according to WITS.

We’re #3?

I’m honored

they sell $500 bil to us and we sell $88 bil to them

what a deal

while its true we get to buy their cheap junk at a discount they are someday going to own us

not protecting our economy is shortsighted in the extreme

Yeah, that's logical though. They make a fraction of what we do.

Between you and me, if both of us produced products to sell, I made a whooping $30K last year. You likely made a ton more. For the sake of simplicity, let's say you made $90K last year.

Between us, which is going to be able to buy more stuff, from the other? Obviously you are. You made 3 times as much money as I did, and thus you can buy three times as much stuff from me, as I can from you.

while its true we get to buy their cheap junk at a discount they are someday going to own us

Of course not. That's ridiculous. Again, you make $90K and I make $30K, and you can buy 3 times as much stuff from me, as I can from you.

At what point in the future, will I magically "own you"? Never. If I only make $30K a year, and you keep making $90K, there will never be a time where I will own you, no matter how much you buy from me.

not protecting our economy is shortsighted in the extreme

I'm all for protecting our economy. We just disagree on what that means. To me, protecting our economy, is to not stop doing the policies that made our economy great, like free trade with anyone. Trade is a massive benefit to our economy, just as trade is a benefit to every economy that engages in it.

The worst thing we can do, is enact protectionism, which has damaged, if not destroyed every single economy that has ever engaged in it.

So yes, I want to protect our economy... from bad protectionist policies have have consistently failed throughout all human history.

totally idiotic of course. We have a booming economy despite 40 years of international free trade. And that is with the idiotic liberal policies that unnecessarily drove so many of our jobs offshore in the first place. You have learned this 45 times before!! Shall we go for 46??

Not even Krugman takes your childlike POV that we cant compete against lower wage countries!!

not protecting our economy is shortsighted in the extreme

absurd of course, the more we trade the more their wages go up toward equalization. So no opportunity to own us. The danger to us is anti business socialist Democrats who will continue to cripple our businesses with more of the their idiotic policies that drove jobs offshore in the first place.
Who gives a crap about THEIR wages? I only care about Americans and their standard of living which is under attack from china

not protecting our economy is shortsighted in the extreme
if you protect it from competition you make it inferior so that no one wants to buy its products. Everyone slowly starves.

We don't want to protect it from competition; we want it to crush the competition. Do you understand? Do you want to give protect your favorite sports team from competition? Do you understand??
Chinese products are often inferior to the American and euro products they are copying

china is simply a half ass society

but they do have a cheap price to match the cheap quality which seems to be ok with most globalists in this country

they are a serious threat

******** 7% growth for 40 years thanks to Republican capitalism is not half-assed. We simple need to discover Republican capitalism again! Do you understand?

How are we competing with china?

by selling them soybeans and pigs?
Actually we sell them 3 times more semi conductors and jet planes than soy/pigs and would do infinitely better if not for libcommie anti-business policies. Don't forget, Chinese govt is pro business while we are half libcommie anti-business. Do you understand?

I only care about Americans and their standard of living which is under attack from china
Our standard of living is going up thanks to lower prices.
Bullshit

as more Americans fall into poverty the gap between rich and poor grows

1) there is no poverty in America. A poor family gets govt assistance worth about $75,000 a year

2) the gap is growing because our businesses are the best in the world. In the new globalized world our managers and owners have billions of new customers and so are making a ton of money. The poor and middle class are not doing as well because liberals shhipped their jobs to China and invited in 30 million illegals to take the remaining jobs and bid down the wages for the remaining jobs. This is why our workers elected Trump!! Do you understand?

How long do you expect to sell china airliners built in the US?

as soon as china steals enough secrets to produce their own that market will dry up for us

the same goes for semi-conductors

well good for you. Trump is far better than the socialist Democrats but he is a protectionist at heart it seems. The more you protect an economy the weaker it gets. Do you understand?
