Major Media FAIL on Reporting the Pacific Northwest Heatwave

The headline in E&E News, WOWT-TV, Scientific American, WorldNewsNetwork, and other media outlets this week, “Unprecedented Heat Wave in Pacific Northwest Driven by Climate Change” couldn’t possibly be more unscientific. With absolutely no analysis, no historical context, and nothing but conjecture, author Anne. C. Mulkern eschewed science for advocacy in her reporting of the brief Pacific Northwest (PNW) heat wave this week.

Yes, the heat wave set all-time high temperature records in Washington, Oregon, and Canada. But consider this: At best, we have about 150 years of reliable weather records for the PNW, so a “black swan” outlier event like this isn’t surprising. It’s happened before, most certainly. We just weren’t around to observe it. After all, Native Americans did not keep written weather records.

High (and low) temperature records are nothing new. But it is important to look at the past, because data show us that more high temperature records were set during the first half of the twentieth century than during the past 50 years. Even the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) confirms this.

The asshole media ignores the RECORD COOL DOWN that came afterwards........, not only that warmist/alarmists ignore the rest of the country as this map shows what these turds ignore:

USA actually COOLED over all that day.
If you think like a simpleton, you cannot understand climate science. Overall, the earth is warming. That's a fact. It correlates with greenhouse emissions. It is happening far faster than it ever did naturally.

The risk is global crop failures, many millions of deaths. By denying real science and inhibiting action, you are making yourself responsible for many of those deaths. It is not the media who is an asshole, boy. It is you.

Breaking News: NASA makes mistakes.

Your quote is nonsense. There is no such thing as "cultural Marxism". It does not exist. It is white-right scare tactics, and you have fallen for it like a colossal chump.

Democratic socialism has produced the world's superior societies, and the USA isn't one of them, thanks to Reaganomics and delusional duped white-rigtht voters who vote for their own ass-raping as long as the RepubliQan Party scares them with trans, immigrants, Mr. Potato Head and black people.

Chumps, dupes, fools, suckers and effectively traitors.

By God, you are right. After that 116 degree day, it cooled a record 26 degrees, all the way down to 90 degrees. And in Lytton, BC, it also cooled down from the 121 degrees they experienced. Of course, the really didn't notice that much, as their town burned that day. And we are still experiencing 90 degree day here in Portland.

Despite the very hot 14 days of June in America, and that La Nina vanished last month, it cooled:

UAH Global Temperature Update for June 2021: -0.01 deg. C

July 2nd, 2021 by Roy W. Spencer, Ph. D.

The Version 6.0 global average lower tropospheric temperature (LT) anomaly for June, 2021 was -0.01 deg. C, down from the May, 2021 value of +0.08 deg. C.

LOL So, looking at that graph, what direction are the high points going? And what direction are the low points going? That is a 42 year record. It clearly shows a rapid warming. All your lies and foolish yapping does not change that.

LOL Now look at the previous dips. Most were La Nina years. And they went down to nearly -0.7 in 1984, to -0.4 in 2012. So the La Nina ended in June, and we are in a neutral ENSO. Yet we did not even reach -0.1. And you dare call that a radical cooling? That is warmer than almost every month prior to 1997.

No one disputes anything I have told you so far. Not NASA. Not IPCC. No one. The oxygen isotope curve is well established for the Cenozoic. No one besides you disputes it.

Do you blindly accept everything you are told without any investigation whatsoever?
You cherry pick data, then misinterpret it. Virtually no on in the scientific community draws the silly conclusions that you do. Your conclusions are not based on science, but on your political beliefs.

I didn't cherry pick anything. There's nothing to interpret. The data is what the data is.

Cultural Marxism began back in the 1930's in Germany and moved over here when Hitler came to power.

The US no longer has the highest standard of living, in fact, we are far behind many other first world nations. Same goes for quality of life. The type of oligarch controlled capitalism here has crippled our nation, and deprived our citizens of the quality of life they should be enjoying. Only the Dunning-Kruger "Conservatives" cannot see that.

Thanks to cultural marxists like yourself.

Remember kiddies, with progressives, when it gets really cold outside and record low temperatures happen, it is weather. When it gets really hot outside in the summer, then it is climate change.....
When playing golf with my police officer buddy, he would talk about drivers not being able to see past the hood of the car. Some people are able to view their entire surroundings, way beyond the hood, while others simply can't. Those that can't are focused ONLY on those things right in front of their nose, and sometimes, not always, leads to accidents that could have been avoided.

The Ocean is vastly larger than the surface of the Earth.
Many people have zero vision of the functions of the Oceans.
They can't fathom how a slight change in Ocean Temperature has huge affects.

Now, in terms of the sky, the atmosphere, and the surface of the Earth, those things are more visible.

Anyway, what's happening in the Oceans is essential.
I'm certainly no Oceanographer, but I do know I/we should listen to them very closely.

Another warmist gook who can't address the CONTENT of the article which is about a SINGLE weather event.

That is YOUR failure.

Never said it was a "radical" cooling you made that lie up.

Ha ha ha ha ha, this is all I said:

"Despite the very hot 14 days of June in America, and that La Nina vanished last month, it cooled:"

You are the one who LIED since I never claimed there is no warming just commented that it cooled in the same month of that incredible heat wave.

.13C/decade by UAH data which is well below the IPCC minimum .20Cper decade warming rate prediction/projection told you this many times already.

I still can't get any rational explanation of how a wisp of atmospheric CO2 can "heat" the deep oceans. It defies common sense and physics, yet it's the central tenant of man made up Global Warming

Been waiting for it for 30 years and still nothing rational showed up surely you don't really expect these warmist climate gooks here in the forum to answer that question?

Looks to me like you have a depth perception problem.. The sun has one too. As the surface of the sun cools, even slightly, the wavelengths of the energy leaving the sun become longer. Small, energetic waves 0.2um-0.6um will heat the oceans to depths of 500-700 meters. When the wave gets slightly longer (bigger) it can no longer penetrate the oceans skin layer. By the time the wave gets to 1.8um it is fully impacted at the skin of the oceans, the first ten microns of the surface. When this energy impacts the skin and does not penetrate it, it causes rapid evaporation and cooling just below the surface. This defeats the energy. This is why any energy reflected or emitted by CO2 can not heat the ocean (12um-16um).

You have one hell of a lot of learning to do in thermal dynamics. This is why our oceans are currently cooling. Dr David Hathaway of SHO noted the shift in solar output back in 2010-2012 and it remains today. The ocean recharge of the ENSO is severely affected. La Niña will be dominant now for some time. Cooling oceans means we will cool globally.
