Major Car Companies React to Trump’s Tariffs, Immediately Slash Prices for U.S. Buyers

Two of the world’s biggest automakers just gave President Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs a ringing endorsement—by putting their money where their assembly lines are.

On Thursday, Ford and Volvo announced bold moves designed to take full advantage of Trump’s new 25% tariff on foreign-assembled vehicles. The message is clear: if you build it here, you don’t get taxed—and American workers win.

Ford, the iconic American brand that’s been making trucks and muscle cars since before most of us were born, rolled out a patriotic new promotion called “From America, For America.” The deal? Employee pricing for everyone, knocking thousands off the sticker price of eligible new vehicles.

“We’re going to offer customers the same deal that our employees get,” Ford Chief Policy Officer Steve Croley told “Fox & Friends.” “We make the most cars here, we employ the most, we export the most.” In other words, Ford’s betting on America—and rewarding Americans for betting on Ford.

BJ-

The “experts” told us that tariffs would be passed on the consumers as massive taxes.
Ford just announced employee pricing to all U.S. customers for the next few months. Trump was right again.
Americans are not bearing the brunt of these tariffs.

President Trump is always right.
Always.
The most American made car right now is a Honda Ridgeline I believe
70% of the parts come from the US and Canada
I believe the second runner up is Ford.
Just about every big auto manufacturer in the world has production here in the US
And they're looking to expand and add other models

Gee I wonder why

Any second now some idiot's going to come along and say I'm wrong

F*** is wrong with people the last couple nights

You think they can build a plant in days? That explains a lot.
The plants already exist. They just need to be reopened. That can be done very, very quickly.

And yeah, it explains a lot about just how ignorant you are.

They would have to be retooled, and refurbished. Thats not going to be "very very quickly. "

I used to fund major plant construction projects.

Sure you did. It's amazing how many jobs you clods supposedly did when you know nothing about the subject.

What retooling is necessary? Have you ever even been inside a car manufacturing plant? Because it's quite apparent you haven't.

What refurbishment needs to be done? Polishing the floors and cleaning the dust off?

Ok....

According to you they have closed plants. Thats old machinery-if even still there.

Hell, even the old "flat front" Rangers go for stupid money around here.

If that has the five speed manual it’s the ultimate Ranger. I’d love to have one to go with my F-250

My Bridgeport Mill is 48 years old. Good machines last. The machinery in those plants is still there, and back in the day the manufacturers would have a small crew to keep them maintained, just in case.

I don't know if they still do that, but just a few years ago they did.

I wonder if this will be on the 6:30 news tonight? Instead it will be about the stock market, the very same stock market that dems used to say only benefitted the rich.
lol!

I remember Obama would say “Main Street, not Wall Street.”

When Trump’s policies put the stock market on steady growth, they’ll say it again.

Which again, means that, at best, they are old and outdated. Even if the physical building was still somehow pristine, it would take a season or more to retool.

Thats fine but it costs money and takes time to do.

What happened to your bullshit claim of being an expert of the current thread's topic?

I bet Ford wished it had a small affordable PU again instead of the 80K+ behemoths they have now....Hell, even their Ranger is about the same size of the new F150 I bought in '99.
Why??

The Maverick is not really a PU in the traditional sense.

Thinking more like the old Ford Ranger.

My 2010 F-150 is huge when compared to the '99 I had.
Rangers were too small for a family. For a solo work truck, it was great. I had an extended cab version and could put my two kids in the back jump seats, but my youngest sat in the middle behind the gear shift, which was not particularly safe.

Trucks today are built for 3+ passengers.

The plants are already there. Remember Saturn? GM now builds Cadillacs there in Springhill TN. The factory was idle for a year in 2007 while they retooled the plant to make Chevrolets.

Detroit is full of idle factories. Retooling them should not take long.

Retooling an existing, running plant for a different model is close to a year. Any plant that has been idle for years needs new machinery for what is planned to be built there. And before that, it needs to be inspected and updated to current specs.

I am wise in all things, a brilliant illuminator of facts and logic!

My antagonist made no statement that was supported.

I am all for domestic investment in the US. But thats going to take time and money.
