With all due respect to Katherine Zimmerman she is off the mark. Al-Qaeda is not secretive in the Mafia sense. To this day more is known about al-Qaeda leadership and their objectives than is know about the Mafia. Proof of a connection to a Muslim government is the only thing that is a secret. That’s the one secret American quislings guard more than any other:

Al-Qaeda is a global terrorist organization that relies on secrecy to survive. Even al-Qaeda members are confused about each other’s status: The leader of the group in Yemen had to ask his Algerian counterpart for clarification about Ansar al-Din’s relationship to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. The covert nature of the network intentionally obscures many relationships.

A new definition for al-Qaeda - The Washington Post
Islam is a political movement. That is only the accurate description of al-Qaeda. Calling al-Qaeda a global terrorist organization effectively separates Muslim militarism from Islam’s so-called peaceful religion. That public relations separation strengthens Islam’s openly stated political agenda —— jihad culminating in a worldwide caliphate.

NOTE: Separating the Democrat party from Socialism/Communism is the equivalent of separating al-Qaeda from Islam.

The reason “. . . al-Qaeda members are confused . . .” is because they lack a central church. There is no confusion as to their goal. If all of the al-Qaeda units had a pope, or a single Muslim government planning overall strategy Muslims, and Islam, would be seen for what they are.

Incidentally, every time a Christian sneezes on public property America’s Socialists/Communists go crazy screaming separation of church and state, yet not a peep is heard about separating Islam from its political movement. And can you imagine any elected officials saying the US military should protect Christians and Jews from Muslim brutality, yet Islam is given every protection so Muslims can prosecute their war without fear of a challenge to Islam.

Obama ties military?s hands by reading al Qaeda out of Benghazi | Power Line

Tying the military’s hands makes sense for Democrats when you remember that they always wanted Muslim military attacks defined as criminal acts. Then-Senator Biden was a leading advocate for what ultimately became government policy. Bringing Muslim combatants to trial in civilian courts was actually the first step in reducing the US military’s effectiveness in fighting the war.

Finally, let me close by pointing out the subtle relationship between the Keystone Pipeline and the way Democrats always treated al-Qaeda.

Experts in every field rightfully tell us that Canada will not leave the oil in the ground. Canada will sell its product to Asia if America does not want it. Informing the public of economic realities was supposed to push Barack Taqiyya into approving the pipeline posthaste. The sad truth is this:

This president will do whatever it takes to harm this country, as well as strengthen its competitors and protect America’s enemies. There is not a whit of difference between blocking the Keystone Pipeline in order to harm the country economically, and failing to fight against Islam’s war with total victory as the goal.

Question: How come government policies like the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the North American Union are good for America while the Keystone Pipeline is not? Answer: The objective in every instance is to weaken Americans economically and militarily.

Al Qaeda breaks link with Syrian militant group ISIL

(Reuters) - Al Qaeda's general command said on Monday it had no links with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), in an apparent attempt to reassert its authority over fragmented Islamist fighters in Syria's civil war.

After a month of rebel infighting, al Qaeda disavowed the increasingly independent ISIL in a move likely to bolster a rival Islamist group, the Nusra Front, as al Qaeda's official proxy in Syria.

The switch is seen as an attempt to redirect the Islamist effort towards unseating President Bashar al-Assad rather than waste resources in fighting other rebels, and could be intended to shift the strategic balance at a time when government forces are increasingly active on the battlefield. It could also embolden Nusra in its dispute with ISIL.

Overall, the three-year-old war however remains largely deadlocked, with Syria fragmented into areas controlled by the warring parties.

Iraqi oil production will rapidly triple to 9 million bpd.. I don't have a quote on gas production. That will take market share from Canada.

AL QAEDA doesn't exist.

To HimlerAspartame: Please elaborate.

To Shaarona: The linked article indicates:

The reason “. . . al-Qaeda members are confused . . .” is because they lack a central church. There is no confusion as to their goal. If all of the al-Qaeda units had a pope, or a single Muslim government planning overall strategy Muslims, and Islam, would be seen for what they are.

To Shaarona: I cannot determine if you support the Keystone Pipeline or oppose it. America should be buying from Canada first. And the pipeline would benefit both countries. Iraq’s oil production is incidental.
In any event my primary premise in this thread is about the military and Islam’s war not petroleum economics.
