Pure socialism or capitalism doesn't work. What we want is a social democracy like a large part of western europe that values education, science, investments into infrastructure and a public sector. Heck, America has been one for most of its history and nearly every civilization in the history of our species.

I oppose violently a Venezuela like system of a dictator that does stupid shit. What kind of stupid shit? Well, not allowing for a private sector and completely giving away the economy without a thought of any real investments to maintain it. I am a capitalist but a capitalist that realizes not everything should be profit driven or that we shouldn't work together on some things.

Like Europe? Well those places don't need big military budgets because we are their military (Trump wants to change that). And they keep their dependents population under control through more strict immigration policies (Trump wants us to have that). They also negotiate for only the best trade deals for themselves (Trump wants us to start doing that).

What do we not have??? We have cradle to grave welfare. Free education. Guaranteed health care in the ER. Great labor laws and a wide variety of choices between union and non union states.

When you ask them about socialism and communism they always say "Oh no....we mean we want the kind that works not the failed ones". And they always....always...point out those handful of Western Europe nations that have done ok.

Which are mostly white.
And have strict immigration policies.
And use us as their military.
And...have a standard of living that's actually less wealthy than our middle class.

But that's what they want.
