Most modern, American liberals aren't genuine leftists. They're more concerned with LGBTQ+++, providing "gender affirmative care" and all of that "stuff". Economics, fighting for working-class rights and interests, is secondary at best, if at all. I say this as a socialist. People make a mistake when they conflate Marxism or socialist leftist ideology with modern American, "woke" liberals.

No because being a leftist has more to do with one's stance and focus on who owns the means of production, worker rights, and how much democracy we have in society (worker-control over the economy and government). However, for liberals, the social issues you're pointing to like LGBTQ+++, and abortion, are the foundation of their political platform. That's not the case for socialists.

Socialists place economics and worker control over the means of production above everything else, politically and one might argue, socially as well. Many of these "woke" liberals don't even think in terms of economics, worker-rights and power. It's all about LGBTQ++, feminism, abortion..etc. Their whole universe revolves around that. I'm a socialist and I don't agree that a man can become a woman, or that children should be injected with puberty blockers.
