Lets talk about Tariffs and what they mean to you!

I am not conversing with you. You have yet to show enough brains or even be open for data, statistics and fact, to make it worth responding to your posts
LOL. You are a fact denier. Trump served 4 years as president, put a bunch of tariffs on, and prices did not go up. So, I can understand why you choose not to converse with someone who posts facts.

Sure, I concede that's how it should play out, at least on paper. However the economy is human driven, and in the same way that during Trump's last presidency prices didn't go up despite trade wars, it's entirely possible that prices will defy conventional wisdom again.
Very low probability that your scenario will occur, but yeah, there is about a 5% (or less) possibility of that happening

As a trader and evaluator that I am, I do not play the longshots. I play the probabilities and in the long run, I am right more often than wrong and I am always ahead of the game and not behind it.

I'm not sure that this is going to work like Trump wants.

Let's take processor chips....vx TSC which makes the most.

The USA doesn't have the power/electricity needed to run a plant, nor the trained people, nor the ability to solve either of these issues.

Can't build a power plant....and short on electricity now....much less build/energize a subdivision that will house the the people. Which are Chemists and chemical engineers and highly trained support staff.
The FANs are also several years out if ordered today. (Gizmos that makes varying wafers to customer specifications) much less the robots needed for anything else needed to manufacture.

But because Micron, Texas Instruments, AMD and Intel all have token plants here....tariffs will double the cost.

Then there's the foreign corruption....the falling quality....and labor shortages. (We'll need to import Taiwanese)

The FTC and SEC must be straight to even begin....

Power plants need a minimum of 5 years to build AFTER a site is approved. And that's just power....what about water and sewage treatment facilities.

Trump raised Tariffs on China in 2017 and for the past 4 years, he has stated that if reelected he would raise tariffs on China even more (60% or more). He reinforced that view recently in August, 2024.

Economists across the board have stated that such a tariff increase would make inflation soar. Nonetheless, Trumpers have pooh-poohed those predictions as being biased against Trump.

Well, here is one predictor that we ALL know and mostly respect, for the simple reason that we all shop there as it is a company that generally offers the lowest prices for products, meaning that if anyone knows about pricing of products, this company knows:

Do you now believe and understand that what Trump has promised to do, will make our lives more difficult without accomplishing much benefit?

It also needs to be clearly understood that if Trump by any chance changes his mind, it will mean a promise that he made 8 years ago (and he did keep) and has made it again for this term, will become a broken promise. Is Trump's caring for Americans greater than the pride/ego for himself? I don't think so.

If he doesn't change his mind (most likely scenario), we all (including his supporters) will suffer the consequences.

What do you prefer he do?
Tater added to those tariffs.

:oops8:

/—-/ Trump should keep increasing tariffs until those countries comply with his demands.
He said first 25.%, then 50% then 75% and even 100% tariffs on Mexico until they stop the caravans from crossing.
It’s as simple as that.

Fox News reported that Mexico relies on exports to the US for 29% of it's GDP.
Also, Canada's relies on US exports for 20% of its GDP.
Meanwhile, the US only relies on each for about 1% of its GDP.

Trump is a genius businessman. He know the art of the deal. He has the complete upper hand, and Trudeau's urgent visit to Mar-A-Lago is proof that Trump will do incredible things for America.

“It is important to understand that Donald Trump, when he makes statements like that, he plans on carrying them out,” Trudeau said before his leaving for Florida.

I believe you are wrong but I hope you are right. We will see, won't we

If tariffs are inflationary, why didn't that happen under Trump last time 🤔

When Biden implemented/increased tariffs, did inflation increase?

All this information is available in Google.

I would normally take the time to explain it to you but you have shown in the past that you don't believe anything I ever say, so I have no desire to take the time and give you that information (which you can easily get elsewhere if you are truly interested in the information)

Why are you asking me. Just go to Google and put that exact question there and get an answer

Here is one (of many) answers you will get

Trump tariffs could make these items more expensive

Do your own research
Did you not read your own post? You said -

a tariff increase would make inflation soar.

So I'm asking you, why didn't that happen under Trump and Biden when they implemented and increased tariffs?

Sigh

Things are different. The last time tariffs were raised there were no tariffs previously. Now, tariffs are there and they are being raised "additionally". In addition, the inflation rate in 2017 was 2.1% and now it is at 3%, meaning that if there is a 20% rise, it would go from 3% to 3.6%, whereas the same 20% rise in 2017, would mean it would go from 2.1% to 2.4%,

You also have to understand that actions (like raising tariffs) do not "immediately" cause inflation (takes months for it to start going up. In 2018, the inflation rate was at 2.4% from 2.1% in 2017, meaning that the tariffs did cause it to go up 15%.

Last but not least, the pandemic hit and that caused inflation to soar because demand rose but supply dropped and that made inflation soar.

Now, Trump wants to raise tariffs even more than in 2017 and in addition, he is going to spend billions in deporting aliens, meaning more expensive products and less income for the government and that also means more unemployment............all inflationary events.

You understand now?

/——/ Biden kept most of Trump’s tariffs then added two more. Now that’s information you can easily get elsewhere if you are truly interested in the information.
