Trump raised Tariffs on China in 2017 and for the past 4 years, he has stated that if reelected he would raise tariffs on China even more (60% or more). He reinforced that view recently in August, 2024.

Trump’s Agenda: Tariffs

While campaigning for a second term in office, President-elect Donald Trump declared “tariff” to be his “favorite word” and “the most beautiful word in the dictionary.” He regularly said he would use tariffs to raise federal revenue and increase jobs and manufacturing in the United States.

For example, at an August campaign rally, Trump suggested broadly placing tariffs on imports from overseas, saying, “We’re going to have 10 to 20% tariffs on foreign countries that have been ripping us off for years.”

In addition, in February, when asked in another Fox Business appearance to confirm a report that he was considering a 60% tariff on imports from China, he said, “No, I would say maybe it’s going to be more than that.”

Economists across the board have stated that such a tariff increase would make inflation soar. Nonetheless, Trumpers have pooh-poohed those predictions as being biased against Trump.

Well, here is one predictor that we ALL know and mostly respect, for the simple reason that we all shop there as it is a company that generally offers the lowest prices for products, meaning that if anyone knows about pricing of products, this company knows:

Walmart just leveled with Americans: China won’t be paying for Trump’s tariffs, in all likelihood you will

Arkansas-based Walmart, the world's largest retailer that traditionally has catered to working-and-middle-class Americans, warned the President-elect's plans to hike import duties across the board will be felt by everyday consumers. "Tariffs are going to be inflationary, there is no disputing that," Walmart finance chief David Rainey told FOX News on Thrursday.

Walmart finance boss Rainey said the massive retailer would do its utmost to cushion the blow—but pain was innowevitable. “We’re going to work with our suppliers as well as our own private brand assortment to continue to try to bring down prices for customers,” he told Fox News. “But we’re not immune, and tariffs will be inflationary for customers.”

Do you now believe and understand that what Trump has promised to do, will make our lives more difficult without accomplishing much benefit?

It also needs to be clearly understood that if Trump by any chance changes his mind, it will mean a promise that he made 8 years ago (and he did keep) and has made it again for this term, will become a broken promise. Is Trump's caring for Americans greater than the pride/ego for himself? I don't think so.

If he doesn't change his mind (most likely scenario), we all (including his supporters) will suffer the consequences.

What do you prefer he do?

Is suicide one of the options?

Apparently no one cared much when Biden raised tariffs on EVs, solar panels, etc to 100% in May of 2024. Hmmmm.

Here, pay attention

Economists are not fortune tellers, and are regularly wrong, even if their predictions are often intuitive. First thing I was ever taught in Economics 101. He passed those tariffs during his first term, and yet most goods were relatively cheap. While the idea that tariffs = price increases is intuitive, logical even, it's apparent that the actual effects are more complex.

I walk into a Walmart check where merchandise comes from, much of which comes from China, where they use slave labor to build things. Now maybe if we made all the Democrats slaves, and used them for cheap labor, we could then compete against China. Since it was Democrats that bought the slaves, fought to keep the slaves, and then tried to keep them down after they were free, a little payback by putting Democrats in chains, would be a good thing.

Walmart is a fortune teller? If so, they have proven to be among the best fortune tellers ever. They have rarely been wrong in their LONG history of fortune telling.

This is actually the situation right now that Trump has put himself in

"A tax On The Consumer': Rand Paul Decimates Trump's Tariff Plan.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said he opposed President-elect Donald Trump's plan to place tariffs on imported goods because it would be "a tax on the consumer."

The Republican lawmaker came out against the proposal during a Sunday interview on CBS after host Margaret Brennan asked if he supported billionaire hedge fund CEO Scott Bessent to be Treasury secretary.

Paul said he was "leaning" towards supporting Bessent but had reservations because Trump vowed to use tariffs on imported products.

I was referring to, "economists across the board." Don't be obtuse. Besides, the inflation wasn't real. It was all just "greedflation", right?

So you do use Walmart to buy things, right?

Are you personally now going to use Whole Foods from now on?

Yours ?
Yes.
I suggest that he tariffs us into much higher store prices, than what you're currently seeing. Plus, get rid of an affordable workforce with deportations. It's funny how little skyrocketing prices actually effect billionaires.

No, supply waned and demand increased, all due to the pandemic, meaning inflation was real

Now, low cost supply will wane but demand will not decrease, so inflation will be the end result.

Anyone that regularly shops at Wal-Mart or uses Amazon is an anti-American PoS.

Both of these global corporations were in on the scamdemic to destroy small & family owned businesses.
