Let's Eliminate Government-Mandated Handicapped Parking Spots.

Screwing the business with an unfunded mandate
No that is the price of having a business and I am sure that stores calculate it in their decisions,

So who else do you claim lose liberties? I know people that are in wheelchairs and need the extra space to get in and out of cars, is it just screw them? They can stay home and starve?

I agree we need different guidelines but to chuck the whole system because you are pissed seems rash.

I've got more problem with these "pick up" spots. Screw these lazy people who don't do their own shopping. They should either be relegated to parking in the farthest reaches of the lot or sent to the back door to pick up their purchases.
I don’t think it matters to the people that pull up and get their orders, I think the stores do it so their employees can be more efficient.

ADA mandates have proven to be a worthwhile investment

I think Mash is just butt hurt because he didn't get a placard from his doc.

It also is a great service for the disabled who no longer can easily do their own shopping. Or say for my relative with advanced COPD who didn't/doesn't want to risk getting exposed to the flu or COVID etc. that could be fatal for that person. Or someone like me who can no longer lift heavier weights.

If you can save a delivery charge by driving to a pickup location and having your purchase brought to your car, I won't fault anybody for using that service. And kudos to stores that understand what customer service is and provide it to bring more customers to their place of business.

I hope and pray that you folks who are younger and still reasonably fit will never know the ravages of disability. But I also hope you can have some compassion for those who are not that fortunate.

I like them bringing thing to my car, I had a stroke and when I get tired, walking is difficult, so instead of taking a handicapped spot, I just have them bring it to my car. For picking out veggies and meats, I like to do that myself, but it is a good option whe I’m not feeling good.

One or the other. If it inconveniences a shopper who has the wherewithal to go to the store and do their own shopping, it is not customer service. I quit shopping the Target in CDA, ID because every spot with any proximity to the entrance was taken up with reserved spots for "pick up" or handicapped. I agree with the necessity of handicapped spaces, but prioritizing laziness is going too far.

Not all disabilities are obvious
Exactly. You look at my Aunt Betty. You look at my husband. You look at me. You wouldn't be able to tell that any of us are not the picture of health and vitality. Our respective disabilities are absolutely invisible to the outside observer.

I understand that, I had a stroke last year and looking at me I am fine but when I get mentally or physically tired, I have difficulty walking and focusing. Most of the time, I feel well and park out always but being able to pull up close when I need it helps me and esp my wife who has to help me.

If you own a business, having accessible parking and electric carts enables people to patronize your business where they may not have been able to otherwise

Target has too many designated pick up spots, ours has 12 or 14, which they are rarely used.

I won’t use the electric carts, they stress me out, amd they run out of battery only when you are the furthest distance from the checkouts! lol!
