There is so much more to it than that. First, the president is not a dictator so she couldn't do price controls in the first place. Second, I guess she could decide that prices are a national emergency and start issuing decrees like they did with Covid. Anytime they want to impose their socialist policies, all they have to do is declare a national emergency for any reason, bringing on socialism. Third, if she could do price controls, why not do it DEI style, selling loaves of bread to the so-called disadvantaged, minorities, or gender changers for a cheaper price than to the rich? Fourth, the left are purposely trying to put small businesses out of business so that only the Walmarts, Amazons, and McDonalds are left and then they will impose government controls of all kinds on those remaining mega businesses.

what I said in the OP is economic fact. Price controls have never worked because the entire concept is a flawed economic theory. The result is always shortages of necessities and business failures. justify your position or STFU and go away.

Three immediate things happen in the first year.

1 smaller businesses will close for the example you gave in which they can't keep up or they lay off people.

2 bigger businesses move out of the country because they don't want to be taxed on millions of even billions in investments they have. Of course there is the very real possibility loopholes will be woven into it so the rich can avoid that and it will only impact middled Americans because it's the wealthy that donate to politicians.

3 a lot of Americans are taxed out of investments such as crypto currency or other forms of investment they own but haven't claimed. It will be a way to steal potential wealth from everyday citizens and prevent them from owning more. Say you buy a crypto for .10 and it goes up to 2.00 now you owe taxes on that increase and if you own a lot you may have to sell some of them to pay the taxes on it decreasing your potential wealth. Own a CD? Same thing only unless it matures you can't cash it out to use to pay taxes on it without being penalized money so you're double screwed.
