This is a consumerism-parody inspired by Capitalism: A Love Story and Talk Radio.

"My name is Ajay Satan. My mom was a nun who prayed on a Ouija-board, seeking a modern-day 'savior' who would use journalism to tackle new age urban cynicism and corruption (and crime) with wise idealistic media. I became a comic book writer and pornography-critic, blogging on the Internet about the value of media for democracy in modern times. Did I fulfill my mom's dream? I sometimes dress up like a 'vigilante' for photos to complement my stories/blogs about various forms of 'modernism idealism' but I'm not a terrorist."

"My main interest is the modern city, which is at once a place of commerce/capital and a place of great traffic and smog (and crime). I think about Hollywood culture and films like L.A. Confidential, and I'm reminded of the virtues/vices of America. I think about the marketing of convenience-companies such as Coke and McDonald's and I think about the demand for consumption and ads. I think about the 'quality' of American Christianity."

"Perhaps my adversary is a shark-like tiger in a business suit, perhaps with a nifty name like Khan or Tyger. Perhaps Khan/Tyger tests consumers' patience with dangerous forms of marketing and media or perhaps even narcotics and black-market munitions smuggling to test the police and politicians. Perhaps Khan/Tyger makes us all wary of Coke and McDonald's and feverish about the 'demand' for vigilantes."

"I think about Internet mail-order-brides who list themselves as prospects for American mend to find and betroth and bring to America to live with them as legal residents. These women want the American Dream and are prepared to marry to get it! These women may also be targeted or even demonized by sociopaths and lunatics and criminals who want to exploit or pervert this traffic-system. What kinds of comic book superheroines would such women idolize --- Wonder Woman (DC Comics), Catwoman (DC Comics), Mrs. Fantastic (Marvel Comics), or Firestar (Marvel Comics)?"

"Woody Allen gave the modern world a searing portrait of the undeniable sociocultural impact of the camera and lens and why new age celebrities are 'deified' as 'lifestyle dolls.' Allen's film, Celebrity, invited audiences to ponder if new age media was simply an obsession and a consumerism-gluttony. Was MTV making us morally obese?"

ajay4.jpg

"I think back to my mother, a former-nun, who prayed on that Ouija-board, hoping she'd conceive a 'vigilante-son' like me who'd be ideal as a journalist or 'media-critic' for this new age of traffic-oriented pedagoguery (e.g., The People's Court). Such contemplation reminds me of novels such as Bright Lights, Big City (Jay McInerney), Interview with the Vampire (Anne Rice), and Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH (Robert C. O'Brien). Why was my mother praying?"

ajay7.jpg

"I think about my own comic book art, and its complementation with stick-figure doodles I made of the masked vigilante Batman (DC Comics) facing-off with the horror-film character Leatherface, a chainsaw-wielding cannibal from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film-series. I think about why graphic and blunt images/stories in modern times such as Dark City capture a new age American fascination with 'criminal-insanity'."

ajay5.jpg

"I think about my stories about Dark Phoenix for Marvel Comics. Dark Phoenix was once an ethical psychic named Jean Grey working for the valiant Professor X who wanted to recruit genetic-deviants with super-powers to help him spread messages about peace, faith, democracy, and teamwork. However, Jean betrayed Professor X when she was laced with a radioactive element by the sinister Magneto, transforming her into a nuclear-villainess named 'Dark Phoenix.' My stories about Dark Phoenix focus on the dangers of new age women furious about sociopolitical exorcism (e.g., Fisher-Buttafuoco, Anita Hill, etc.). Is this America?"

ajay10.jpg

"I've collected my testimonies onto a tape, which I've stored in my personal library/archive. Someday, a future archaeologist might just find this tape and play it back and record/recount how our era was marked by forms of sociocultural madness, consumerism biases, media challenges, urban apathy, and yes, even Christian angst. That's why I think my bottle of Coke (my preferred brand of carbonated soft-drink) is symbolic of modern mania. Isn't capitalism a thing of genius?"
