It's the candidates on the right who stole it from the activists and redefined it that I'm concerned about
Then it's a clearly unfounded attack.
Of course it is.
Then why did Obama claim that the Democrats should not have used the slogan? I’m not sure why Obama even brought it up.
I stated my case, I agree with Obama.
I agree with Obama, however you also claim that candidates didn’t run with the slogan but you agree that candidates should not have used the slogan?
Actually I never said candidates didn't run on that, I'm not sure if any candidate used that slogan or not. I know that many activists did. While I am generally supportive of their cause I think the slogan is misguided.

I find it hard to condemn them for talk. I'm more heavily armed than the average bear, so intimidation is futile.
This response makes no sense at all, you were JUST complaining and condemning the talks of "defund the police" and "fry' 'em like bacon."

President Trump, is that you...?!?!
I would never condemn "defund the police" as I completely believe that that is necessary. I must not be coming across clearly.

I’m not sure why Biden brought it up. Strange that he brought up an issue the Democrats didn’t use, isn’t it?
Which Democrats?

Simple question. Should be a simple, and easy, answer.
I have no clue, I’m asking why would Obama make such a statement if no Democrats had used the slogan. I’d Obama losing it? Why would progressives be upset that Obama said that?

Obama is THEE representative of the Democrat Establishment, shouldn't take rocket science to figure out why he'd take that position.

Better question now is why would you repeat something you're so uncertain of though?

Could it be that some Democrats, who were not candidates, did use it? Once it showed up in the Media Imagines it was pushed heavily. Once the Rightwing blogoshpere got a hold of it it became a weapon.

Of course President Obama is correct. "Defund the Police" is possibly the dumbest slogan they could have possibly used in trying to sway people to vote Democrat. Republican messaging masters were quick as SoS to take advantage of it. Makes me think it was a plant by GOP operative.

"Defund Chokeholds" would have been better.
Obama wants the Police. He is a globalist. The Police in the United States needs to be nationalized. As to further our entrance into the North American Union. (Canada, Mexico, U.S.) The Police genuflected to the Progressive Socialist Politicians with the riots while arresting people who do not wear masks or defend themselves. That is all you have to know.

Good.
Why is that good? It seems divisive.

Maybe before people start yapping about defunding the police blacks should stop shooting and killing blacks as if its opening day of hunting season. I am willing to bet more black people shoot black people in Chicago then police shoot black people in the entire country.
Apparently a black man shooting a black man Is gangstra cool, yet when a police officer shots a perp it’s racism. Obama is and remains nothing more than a political organizer promoting racism as an excuse for those unwilling to work in bettering their lives.

2020 YTD 192 black people were killed by police, 2019 were 235, 2018 were 209, 2017 were 232. Hell the mayor of Chicago, land of Obama outdoor be bragging about those numbers. Now let’s look at the numbers of Whites shot, 2020 YTD 370, 2019 were 370, 2018 were 399, 2017 there were 457. Both comparisons show a decrease. Interesting isn’t it.

YOU are now comparing police to gangsters in the most crime-ridden neighborhoods in the U.S.! And for you information, nobody in the Democratic Party thinks “a black man shooting a black man is gangsta cool”! Again, that is YOU talking through your ass.

The slogan “Defund the Police” is wrong. Obama, no fool, is on to something important here. But it is only politically wrong.

Like “open borders” — a slogan nobody in the Democratic Party runs on, or ever has run on — the right uses such slogans demagogically and out of context to great effect.

A major party that wants to govern this crazy country has to be smart. “Community policing” or “demilitarize the police” or “End the private prison industry” or “hire more minority police” — these make sense for the Democrats. In certain specific cases of course budgets for police can and should be cut.

Hell, Trump recently threatened to defund police in Democratic cities that would not allow their police to cooperate fully with ICE! These are all just political slogans (or fake ones), but real political differences rest behind them. The Democratic Party program is shot through with false assumptions about what is important, what is possible, what sections of society are crucial to attract. The Republicans down-ballot victories show serious problem with their messaging and also with their policies. Too much to go into here.

How about vetoing the military budget — another thing Trump just threatened to do! — and demanding dramatic cuts in funding for overseas military adventures? Now that could be a slogan and a policy worth adopting!

Defund the police is a slogan of the left, Obama just wants themto keep it quiet. At least that is what I got out of his strange statement.

DEMS GET 'SNAPPY'

Progressives fire back after Obama rips 'Defund the Police' slogan; far-left insists they really mean it

Progressive Democrats took aim at former President Barack Obama after he argued that political candidates alienate voters when they use "snappy" slogans such as "defund the police."

Obama made the comments during an interview with Peter Hamby on the Snapchat original political show "Good Luck America" that aired Wednesday morning.

"You lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you're actually going to get the changes you want done," Obama said. "The key is deciding, do you want to actually get something done, or do you want to feel good among the people you already agree with?"

His comments drew a sharp rebuke from several progressive Democrats.

Obama is far smarter than the new radical socialists like Omar, who criticized Barry for these comments. Barry knows you don't TELL Americans what you want and intend to do. You 'sneak up on them' and just DO IT before they know what's happening, like what he did with Obamacare. Americans woke up one morning to find that his minority-supported healthcare BS had been rammed down their throats as they slept. After that it was too late...

disagreement is healthy....I cheer for the left but I disagree with them on many issues. It is only dangerous when one follow one person blindly, it's called cultism.
That being said I don't agree with defending the police, but in some cases they need scale back on their budget, In my city although is a high middle and rich area there is no excuse for the chief of police to be paid 500k and regular officer 250k and up.
