Because authoritarian regimes assume a monopoly on violence. Anything that contradicts that narrative must be dealt with. In the harshest of terms…i'm sure there are already threads about the elderly bodega worker that has been arrested on a 2nd degree murder charge when he fatally stabbed a man that was assaulting him ... but this thread differs from those threats because it asks why prosecutors would lock up a man clearly defending himself on camera ! in my opinion the reason the victim Josa Alba an elderly gentleman with no priors was arrested for defending himself against a known gang member with a rap sheet was to send a message to citizens of NYC . with the recent SC ruling against NYC limitations on gun ownership the left is enraged and are sending a clear message to its citizens especially the thousands that will now be allowed to carry for self defense. the message is they may be prosecuted to the fullest if they defend themselves and end the life of one of the thousands of violent criminals they have released back onto the streets ! dont believe it ? ask Alba who is sitting in Rickers on a $250,000 bail !
