Lefties push campus rape myth...Pro 2nd Amendment push arming women on campus...backfire....

As a young woman on a college campus, why would you not want to carry a gun?
As an anti-gun loon, why would you want to deny said woman an effective means of defending herself?

You see that woman with the bra holster shot herself dead? See the woman who got shot dead by her 2 year old? Nuff said. I don't think the circumstances of most rapes would allow for a gun defense. Avoiding drugs and alcohol more effective.

Even foreign police are shooting themselves in the leg.....

Yeah....really ingenius argument brain...in a country of over 320 million people...with over 11.1 million people carrying guns for self defense.....only 6-700 a year are accidentally killed with guns......not a problem....not even close to a problem.....

and 1.6 million people a year on average using guns to stop violent criminal attack and save lives......6-700 accidental gun deaths...again, not a problem.....

If you want to save a lot of lives...ban cars....and pools.......

Yes it is a problem if you are somebody who was told you need to have a gun to be safe and end up killing yourself with it on accident. Keep in mind a gun owner is 3X more likely to shoot and kill an innocent person than a criminal. There is also a good study showing if you carry you are more likely to be shot.

As I have pointed out before your 1.6 million makes no sense. First the surveys have been debunked several times over. Second crime is down about 30% since the last one was taken. And you make it sound like they are all violent crimes, but they are not. Violent crime is just a small percent of all crime. So you really need to stop throwing around numbers that are false.

Keep in mind a gun owner is 3X more likely to shoot and kill an innocent person than a criminal.

Sorry, not true......

The 18 studies performed over 40 years have not been debunked...each time they are duplicated the numbers stay high....

And crime is down....as more Americans carry guns for self defense, over 11.1 million people...and crime and gun accidents are going down, not up....so guns are not the source of the crime problem.....

Didn't say they are the cause. There are 6-700 accidental deaths with guns, and only about 230 or so criminals killed in defense each year. Do the math.

Here in Illinois....a police officer leaving court was taking his gun out of a locker....shot himself in the leg, at a local gun range during a police training excercise, a female police officer was having trouble with her holster...she holstered her gun, and shot herself in the leg in 3 places....in and out and back in...she almost bled out on the range......soooo...should we ban guns for police....based on the accident rate of police officers and guns?

Are you trying to prove that carrying is very dangerous?

Then tell that to obama....his CDC researched all the available studies in 2013 to the tune of 10 million dollars....they found the rate of self defense with guns was 500,000 to upwards of 3 million.....and obama is as anti gun as you can get,as is the CDC......

That's quite the range. Sounds very accurate. Is that 500k plus or minus 2.5 million?

Guns are the most effective way to stop rape....

Guns Effective Defense Against Rape

First, a 1989 study (Furby, Journal of Interpersonal Violence) found that both male and female survey respondents judged a gun to be the most effective means that a potential rape victim could use to fend off the assault. Rape "experts" considered it a close second, after eye-gouging.

Second, raw data from the 1979-1985 installments of the Justice Department's annual National Crime Victim Survey show that when a woman resists a stranger rape with a gun, the probability of completion was 0.1 percent and of victim injury 0.0 percent, compared to 31 percent and 40 percent, respectively, for all stranger rapes (Kleck, Social Problems, 1990).

Third, a recent paper (Southwick, Journal of Criminal Justice, 2000) analyzed victim resistance to violent crimes generally, with robbery, aggravated assault and rape considered together. Women who resisted with a gun were 2.5 times more likely to escape without injury than those who did not resist and 4 times more likely to escape uninjured than those who resisted with any means other than a gun. Similarly, their property losses in a robbery were reduced more than six-fold and almost three-fold, respectively, compared to the other categories of resistance strategy.

Fourth, we have two studies in the last 20 years that directly address the outcomes of women who resist attempted rape with a weapon. (Lizotte, Journal of Quantitative Criminology, 1986; Kleck, Social Problems, 1990.) The former concludes, "Further, women who resist rape with a gun or knife dramatically decrease their probability of completion." (Lizotte did not analyze victim injuries apart from the rape itself.) The latter concludes that "resistance with a gun or knife is the most effective form of resistance for preventing completion of a rape"; this is accomplished "without creating any significant additional risk of other injury."

The best conclusion from available scientific data, then, is when avoidance of rape has failed and one must choose between being raped and resisting, a woman's best option is to resist with a gun in her hands.

Again, how many are defendable with a gun?

I don't think the circumstances of most rapes would allow for a gun defense.

Tell that to the woman raped 50 feet from the campus police station that was closed for the night...she had a concealed carry permit but wasn't allowed to carry because the campus was a gun free zone....but the rapist didn't have a problem carrying his gun and using it to rape her...........

Link?

Here is the woman' story....had she had a gun she would have spared 2 other women from being raped, and saved one of them from being killed......but no......you guys prefer that she be raped than that she use a gun to stop the rape....right?

Rape Survivor A Call Box Above My Head While I Was Being Brutally Raped Wouldn t Have Helped - Katie Pavlich

Amanda Collins is a young rape survivor. While in college in 2007, she was raped 50 feet away from the campus police department office at the University of Nevada-Reno and was lucky to get out alive. Her attacker was James Biela, a serial rapist who raped two other women and murdered another. He attacked her at gun point in a gun free zone. At the time of the attack, Collins was in possession of a concealed weapons permit but was not in possession of her firearm due to university policies prohibiting carrying concealed weapons on campus. She was also a second degree blackbelt at the time and walked to the parking garage with a large group of people. Today, Collins did an interview with NRA News host Cam Edwards to tell her horrific story. She explained why Colorado Democratic Rep. Joe Salazar's comments about call boxes and rape whistles being sufficient self defense for women on campus will only result in more uncessary victims.

And the woman with the bra holster shot herself dead. Now we are 1-1. Oh then that woman got shot dead by her 2 year. 2-1.

Yeah, heard this on Rush today.....the left has been pushing the meme that women are constantly being raped on college campuses....it has been shown to be a myth....it does happen but not to the degree the left is pushing in order to attack men......and now Republican, state legislators in several states are saying that women on college campuses should have the right to carry guns to stop the rapes......not what the left wanted.....hopefully they will pass these new laws......guns are the best bet to stop stranger rape...and women should have that option....right?

Or do you lefty anti gunners prefer that women are raped...instead of stopping the rape with a gun?

Yup, because clearly we need drunken college girls with guns.

No math to be done the two are not connected.....more people interact with guns, handling them at ranges, and moving around with them and cleaning them, than actually will have to confront and kill an attacker......that is why there are more accidents, though still a tiny, tiny number of them, vs. people who don't want to shoot anyone, having to kill a violent attacker.....showing you anti gunners that gun owners are not blood thirsty killers waiting to shoot on sight......

Well.....considering that over 11.1 million people carry guns for self defense...and only 6-700 a year die from accidental gun deaths....and most of those are probably not due to carrying them....that is hardly dangerous.....getting in a car....now that is more dangerous by far.......

Your 1.6 million is completely wrong. The surveys were over 20 years ago. Crime has come down over 30%. And violent crime is a small percent of all crime. You are really trying to be deceptive with your false claims. And the surveys have been debunked several times over.

Guns are FAR more dangerous if you look at the hours of use for each.

No....the 1.6 million is an average of studies, both private and public done over a 40 year period....and again...crime is down....gun ownership is way up....and violent crime is the type of crime that is impacted by armed citizens....and I am not the one who is deceptive........and they surveys have never been debunked.......false claims are made against them by anti gun researchers hoping to push their agenda forward but who can't find research backing them up....so they have to lie about all the other research that shows that guns are used 1.6 million times a year to stop violent crime and save lives...

Now....over 11.1 million people carry guns for self defense....and the gun murder rate is down, not up.....and the accidental gun death rate is down, not up......so we do not have a gun problem....we have an ongoing gang problem in small multi block areas of inner cities where about 80% of all gun murders occur....fix the gang problem in those small areas and our gun murder problem goes away........

Your 1.6 number is from bad surveys over 20 years ago. Crime has come down like 30% since then. At least adjust your made up numbers. And you make it sound like 1.6 violent crimes, when violent crime is only a small percent of all crime. Murder is like .001 of all crime.

Sorry, I don't make up numbers....I'll tell you when the next study comes out.......
