Looks like the news girl got it a little wrong, shocking, I know...

Bushmaster Firearms Inc. of Windham, Maine, has agreed to pay $550,000 and Bull’s Eye Shooter Supply of Tacoma, Wash. has agreed to pay $2 million to settle families’ lawsuits over the 2002 D.C. sniper shootings.

I've been to Bullseye (one guy was a real dick) and if their insurance didn't pay it, no way did the plaintiffs collect on that 2mil. I don't know why Bushmaster settled but I think they opened the door at let the sharks know they had a shot (no pun intended).
