Then he loved them dearly, and spent time with them every day, along with the Ukrainians, Russians, Asians, Indians, etc. (By the way, you are starting to sound not only ignorant, but brainless. At least get in the game before you insult those of us who are.)
I live with an immigrant. My biggest worry is that she can be scooped up by ICE jackboots because she has a bad habit of not carrying her identification with her.
My experience with immigrants is that they don't want or need your charity or your condescension. They want the same opportunities the rest of us have.
Now, you just might be on the edge of intelligence. Who inflicted the workers of the nation without putting first things first. Why wasn't a National ID system established first? Why wasn't a guest worker program to meet labor needs established first? Why not first crack down hard on people who hire on the cheap?
Okay, that's an easy one.
When Social Security was established, conservatives insisted that the government would not use the cards as National Identification. So identification was left up to the states with 51 different standards.
We know very well why a guest worker program wasn't established. Americans like you would scream, "They're taking American Jobs!!!" Even though Americans don't want those jobs. Now, the jobs they DO want, rich guys like Elon Muskrat can still get his H1B indentured servants, of course.
As for why we don't crack down on the rich white people who hire them...all I have to ask is, "What, are you new?"
Because none of this was established first we have people like you insulting people like me who are dealing daily with all the fallout because it was not first things first. Where were you when that was not being done? Who were you denigrating then?
I'll tell you where I was. I spent my first 11 years after high school serving in the Armed Forces. I think that pretty much gives me a pass for the rest of my life. But I still pay my taxes, still do my part, still have a say on politics.
Why wouldn't they want to help you? Wouldn't you want to help them?
It's been my experience in life that people don't really appreciate it when you help them. Gratitude is the most uncomfortable of emotions. The Japanese have five different ways of saying "Thank you", and they all drip of resentment.
