LaGuardia Airport: Delta Jet Slides Off Runway, Closed

It will be interesting to learn the findings of what happened. A wing was also sheared off, from what I have heard. Did he land, then slide, or was the landing itself bad?

Been on that flight before.

Too bad La Guardia won't be closed permanently. It's the worst, dirtiest and most inaccessible airport in the country.

Just listening to the dispatcher audio, it states and confirms flight was inbound with ruptured wing and fuel leak. Surely that can't be right??

Now 1 runway will reopen at 2 today.

What could have ruptured the wing in mid-flight?

Chit happens, people. I'm pleased that there were only minor injuries, and it wouldn't surprise me if those folks filed some kind of suit against the airline. I work in the industry, in Alaska. Not every airport is as prepared as those where such weather conditions are dealt with regularly.
