Im thinking that it was an old M-1 rifle my father had at one time...not really sure. This is going back 50 years...It is very simple. A clip feeds a magazine. A magazine feeds a firearm. Some weapons have internal magazines such as the M1 Garand. Most modern weapons have removable magazines. In some cases you can remove the magazine and use a stripper clip to feed bullets into the magazine.
Either way it is an irritant to many when these terms are mixed up because it demonstrates ignorance of the basics which leads to bad media stories such as the constant misuse of the term assault rifle. Which is the same as an earlier but constant misuse of a silly term Saturday Night Special for any and all small handguns.
This sort of ignorance is often linked to nonsensical gun control efforts
But back then as well the police weren't shy about bringing out water cannons to stop vandalism, arson, and looting during riots. Just having an actually peaceful protest march could get water cannons.
Now the same people protesting then are in charge now...talking all about free speech then...also peace and free love... my how things have changed...they are the fascist regime with a punitive state.
