Kukri...

Blues Man has convinced me I need a Kukri.

Any recommendations?

Hold up now!!!
I've been preaching the benefits of the Kukri for years on USMB!!!!

I knew what it is...and what it does...

...but I never thought of it as a replacement for a hatchet.

Like I told Blues Man, I'm of the Nessmuk School...

But just an old Estwing hatchet in lieu of the double bit hand axe.

Do you also agree the Kukri is superior to the hatchet?

Cause I'm still skeptical...I'm only willing to compare them myself.

Absolutely!!
It carries more weight forward than a hatchet and chops far better.
Plus it can be used for more than chopping wood.

Guess this old dog is going to learn a new trick.

You do something one way all your life and it works...it's hard to change.

But...I have one on the way.

One fifth inch thick at the spine and 10 inch blade length, 1.3 lbs, AUS8 steel (supposedly).
