Not true...look it up. The KKK was started by the southern democrat party. Look it up.

no, it wasn't....it was started by some college guys or just out of college guys...

then both political parties grabbed on to it, and changed it, to their political use and abuse...in the south, Democrats, but in the mid west...primarily Republicans.

True -- the Klan elected a governor (Jackson) in Indiana, a governor AND Senator in Colorado (Means and Morley) and an entire city council in Anaheim -- all Republicans. They also worked to get a gov in Oklahoma (Walton) impeached when he tried to drive them out after the Tulsa Race Riots, and agitated to stop the nomination of Sen. Oscar Underwood for POTUS in 1924 because he was the loudest voice denouncing the Klan. Walton and Underwood were Democrats. The latter from Alabama.

Indiana was an interesting case -- it was estimated that at one point one-third of the entire male population of Indiana were Klan.

Klan were not by nature Democrats or Republicans; they were opportunists who, when they dabbled in elections, would grab the conservative vote wherever it lay.

Interesting video, hadn't seen this before. Stephenson himself had been both a Democrat and a Republican, whichever served his purpose at the time.
