Its no longer an honor to perform there. As I understood it, as paydays go, the Kennedy Center wasn't high on the list. However, as an honorific...it was very satisfying to say you've played the Kennedy Center.

There was a Phillip Glass program that was going to be debuted there a few years ago. The pricing was not just reasonable...it was cheap compared to most venues featuring that caliber of composer; especially a debuting work. Here is a current offering.

To put it in perspective....the Lincoln (Lincoln, Nebraska, not the Lincoln Center) has a program in December where tickets are going for more than a Phillip Glass piece.

So it's not a huge money maker for the artists to perform there. And now with trump...the honor is not what it used to be.
