a guns only purpose is to ignite a propellant charge and fling a projectile. If that's what happens the gun works as intended, and there is no tort liability.
Again, you are forgetting the big tobacco lawsuit. The problem wasn't the design, it was the marketing and the corporate behavior. When it was found out that big tobacco was deliberately marketing to kids, they were done. They pretty much had to agree to whatever the states wanted. As a result, very few kids pick up smoking now and we might see an end to it as a habit.
My guess, as part of discovery, we are going to find out that the Gun Industry really did market to the crazies... not to mention their cozy relationship to the National Rampage Association...
