Not if they violate the law doing it. The prosecution cannot enter evidence into a trial that was gathered illegally. It may prove that someone is a mass murderer, and if not used may let him return to the general population, but if a prosecutor tries to use it, he'll be slapped down, face penalties and cause a mistrial.
