Specifically, they were alleged to have violated Section 11(b) of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, which prohibits intimidation, coercion or threats against "any person for voting or attempting to vote." The aims of the lawsuit were fairly limited: "The Department seeks an injunction preventing any future deployment of, or display of weapons by, New Black Panther Party members at the entrance to polling locations." In other words, the aim was to make sure they didn't do something similar again in the future. This section of the law does not subject violators to criminal penalties (fines or jail time, for example).

The Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice, which handles all racially motivated voter intimidation offenses, determined that "the facts did not constitute a prosecutable violation of the federal criminal civil rights statutes," according to testimony provided by Thomas E. Perez , Assistant Attorney General, on May 14, 2010. Justice spokeswoman Tracy Schmaler confirmed to PolitiFact that that determination not to file criminal charges was made prior to the filing of the civil case.

In other words, the decision not to pursue criminal charges was made by the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division prior to the Obama administration.

Here's the thing about the incident with the New Black Panthers. According to the judge who ruled in the AZ case just the other day what the BP's did was perfectly fine.

Then why all the complaining? If they were cool with it then, shouldn't you be good now?

I worked for CO as a ballot collector in 2012 so I have an advantage over you in that I know how the process works. Collected ballots are brought back to the county facility where they are screened and counted. Discrepancies are identified there.

That's the point. Most ballots are by mail, where there is absolutely no counting or checking the collection of ballots. And as you said, all the checking and verification is done upon receipt, and how they got to the election board should make no difference at all.

If you don't monitor the wall, then smugglers will have no problem getting through it. It has to be monitored.

Furthermore, they should have built a concrete wall. I don't know why they build that pathetic steel fence and then chose not to monitor it. if they put sensors on it, then the border patrol could be on the spot the minute anyone started cutting on it.
