If the thread title is accurate, I think that sitting down would be fine.

In fact, if Senator Sanders is truly a humane Socialist, he will realize that making frail Mr. Biden stand for two hours would be very bad for the latter's mental and physical health.

And if there is a Biden - Trump debate, I hope that President Trump will agree that both should sit down. It would very painful to watch Mr. Biden trying to counter President Trump while the former is standing up and no doubt feeling tired and confused. It would cause viewers to have sympathy for Mr. Biden.

(I hate myself, but I did chuckle at one poster's comment that the debate might need a break for a nap!)

This is a great idea. The problem with debates is that they are done on the same sets they do quiz shows on, and they use the same format.

Get rid of podiums, get rid of moderators, just have two guys sit around and talk about their ideas of how to solve the countries problems.
