Tn Promise Scholarship for 2 yr Community and Tech schools is FULL RIDE FREE..

Tell me again what problem the Dems are solving with "free college"?? And where are they "solving this"??? And WHY do I have to pay for states who can't fix this on their own???

Maybe if Cali and NY stop playing sanctuary to the illegals and homeless and didn't waste so much and have such STUPID "legacy pensions" bankrupting them -- their KIDS would be better served..

I thought the idea was to make two years of Community College free, if the student is in a degree or certificate program and maintaing an acceptable GPA. That's a little different from 4 years at MIT.

Anyway, it seems like with the workplace being what it is, most people need some further training in order to get a job that will pay the bills. Maybe it should be free like K-12 if it's necessary to prepare our kids for productive lives.

A lot of high schools are offering AP courses at local universities, free of charge to juniors and seniors, so they can get some of those 101 courses out of the way before graduating. My new grandson will have a whole semester under his belt, free, when he gets his hs diploma in June. Yes, I know we are the ones ultimately paying for it. Just pointing out that it is already being done in a small way.

It's a very stupid idea. Usual leftist utopistic stuff, the real goal is of course indoctrination and as always - to let leftists do whatever they please without any consequences while others pay. Parasitic as hell... we would instead get more indoctrination degrees and less actual degrees in this model (which is the goal).

The attendance would be controlled by entrance exams. But then when dumber people could not get in, there would have to be quotas so everyone gets a fair shot - to fail miserably in a high IQ program.

Dont need to FORCE everyone into freshman/soph slots at ComColleges.. In Tennessee, this was part of grand design to ENCOURAGE people of lesser means to do that. Not just because of money, but because kids in underperforming K-12 schools are just gonna get 2 years OF REMEDIAL WORK anyways.. Whether they go to ComCollege or UT-Knoxville or even Vanderbilt. It just makes sense..

When an underserved teen who never made it to advanced placement -- shows up and suddenly wants to be a doctor or engineer -- this whole concept of the SAME COLLEGE for everyone just fails.. If we could REQUIRE that students CHOOSE careers "that would pay the bills" we'd have less of a problem.. Or if an appreciable % was NOT expected to "change majors" to something easier 2 years in -- MAYBE we should subsidize it a bit more.. But "big free bargain" Swamp Dems -- are NOT their parents, counselors or advisors.. If ANYTHING -- we should ADD 2 years to HS and BRING BACK shop, music, home yeck, apprentice programs, and ALL those things that given College an inflated view of itself..

1) Who gets Harvard level tuition as "free" as someone who gets Cranberry State College tuition. And what about the "diversity point scholars" that Harvard brings in that are UNPREPARED to succeed there?

2) Are we gonna pay for SIX YEARS of college to get an undergrad degree for kids that NEEDS 2 years of remedial work for their majors -- or CHANGE majors one or more times????

3) Are we all gonna agree that we're paying for 4 times more "theater majors" and ethic studies majors than the nation needs?

4) With colleges going away from grades and testing -- what feedback do we have the schools are really preparing them for ANY career? Who wants to REWARD that behavior with tax dollars we DO NOT have..

Free college is exceptionally bad idea now that almost all of the material is already online - for a fraction of the cost (and even free!). We could actually have affordable education - but instead the dinosaurs want to continue with their ineffective model and charge an arm and a leg.
