Jim DeMint: Gays And Unmarried, Pregnant Women Should Not Teach Public School

Separation of "church" and state......not separation of religious opinions and state....

the "hate ***" value is a big one in our country because fags are trying to destroy the values of marriage and family......and btw people have a right to those opinions....whether they are religious-based or not...

Thanks for proving my point

No prob.....some people in this country actually DO have values.....unlike the moral relativist socialists who are attempting to unravel the social fabric of our country....
Marriage isn't a critical issue in our country. Society will still carry on, with or without it being defined as M/F.

Values like seperation of church and state?

or values like "Hate fags"????

Separation of "church" and state......not separation of religious opinions and state....

Teach your kids to hate fags at home......stay out of my schools

Teach YOUR kids at home to love the *** lifestyle.....stay out of MY schools.......(so says the MAJORITY in this country...)

Sen. Jim DeMint: Gays And Unmarried, Pregnant Women Should Not Teach Public School

There are so many things wrong with his statements that I don't even know where to begin criticizing them.
We are to infer from the Senator's comments and the comments supporting him that there is no morality in being Gay. No morality in being an unwed mother. And, further, those 'types' of people should be barred from their professions as teachers.
Nothing wrong with that....those are his opinions...

We have heard from some here that they equate drug use, drunkenness and criminal behavior with homosexuality and unwed motherhood.
You'll probably find those behaviors more often associated with each other than not...

My question is, why is such ignorance celebrated as moral?
What ignorance...?
What right do such bigots have to claim a moral high ground?
So you claim to have the moral high ground....how so?
How can these bigots profess Christianity and then pray the Lord's Prayer "forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us."?
What kind of stupid question is that?[/QUOTE]
What's wrong with thinking that there is no morality in being Gay or an unwed mother is that such thinking is based on prejudice and ignorance. What's more fair and just: judging an entire group of people on stereotypes and prejudice or, assessing an individual on his/her actions and deeds?

So, your contention that criminal behavior, drug use, drunkenness et al are more often associated with Gays and unwed mothers is not just, not fair and based on your ignorance.

And that's how a high moral ground is established: through fairness and the assessment of individual behavior, not group think.

Well then, tell me exactly....

how the gay lifestyle (with all its attendant drinking and drug use - you can't deny it) is a "moral" value to teach children.....?

or how sleeping around and getting knocked up is a "moral" value to teach children...?

Commitment in relationships is an excellent value to teach children.

As for the unwed mothers, you don't know WHY they're unwed. It could be for a host of reasons.

Drug use and drinking are not required to live a Gay lifestyle. Drug use and drinking are not exclusive to living a gay lifestyle. And not all unwed mothers are 'sleeping around'.

Other than some lame strawman arguments (designed no doubt to abate the guilt you feel about being so ignorant about this topic), what's your point?

Like I said......teach to the Christian ideal....hanging the 10 Commandments on the school walls would be a good start....

....what exactly is the ideal that you moral relativists wish to teach....?

**** your ten commandments, not in my public school

I understand how you could be against teaching children to not steal, lie or remain faithful to your spouse. Those are dem values.

Do you really need a big scary invisible creature somewhere in the sky hovering over you in order for you to figure out right from wrong?

No, they are not "requirements" but they do happen to a large degree....

Unless the girl was raped or artificially inseminated.....how does she get pregnant without "sleeping around" with some guy.....meaning having sex but not married....?

There's nothing ignorant about setting standards of behavior for students to model after...

No....but there is such a thing as wisdom from the ages (such issues are not new issues, believe it or not).........you can find a lot of wisdom in the Bible....and in the writings of our Founding Fathers....as opposed to communism/socialism teachings which are just leading you to believe in "anything goes" nonsense....

Drug use and drinking happen to a large degree in heterosexual relationships.

And there you go again! Making unfounded assumptions about the circumstances of unwed motherhood. If you are going to judge an individual on something other than the facts of their situation, it's fair to call you a bigot. Get it yet? Or has conformity and obedience hardened your heart and erased the idea of justice from your soul? Bigoted thinking should never set any standards.

A better question might be.....what makes you think gays or unwed mothers are legitimate minority groups to be protected and touted as teachers of morality....?

Ok, now we've eliminated gays, unmarried people with kids (including divorcees?) drinkers, smokers, gamblers, fat people, atheists, and I'm sure a few I'm missing from the ranks of teachers,

now let's work on that shortage of good teachers...

...and that's before we break the teachers' unions and get them all working for less money and with fewer rights.

Thwe unions have to go. Teacher's union thugs could not care less about education. Teacher's unions exist to protect jobs. The more techaers there are ,the more money the union makes.
In fact, NO PUBLIC employee should be permitted to have collective bargaining rights.
We here in the private sector have to slug it out trying to earn merit pay, test for promotions, pay for our medical insurance while taxpayer funded workers get free healthcare, collective pay raises whether they performed well or not, in the case of teachers they get tenure which is 100% job security....That's just not realistic.
There are enough laws on the books both state and federal that protect wokers. The last thing we need for taxpayer's employees is a middle man who's sole function is to make a nice cushy living for himself.
Unions are about dead in the private sector.
Unions need to disappear from the public sector as well. The far above market wage salaries and benefits are unsustainable.

If school boards are going to start firing teachers who are gay or pregnant, like DeMint advocates, they definitely need a union

I was focusing on the unions only. Not the lifestyle choices of teachers.

Clearly the pro-gay agenda people would like nothing better than to achieve official minority status.
I have no problem seeing gay people have equal rights.
What I don't want to see is certain groups of people attaining special rights.

Experience and a mind aimed at justice rather than fear.

My personal physician is gay. I trust him, literally, with my life. I've known many homosexuals. worked along side them. Shared laughs and meals with them. How can it be a moral act to cast all homosexuals as bad if individual homosexuals prove to be decent people?

As for unwed mothers, again I must take each person on her merits. To judge all unwed mothers as a group or to make assumptions about one individual based on the stereotypes and fears ignorant people impose on them would just be stupid, don't you think?

Fear and prejudice are the weapons of small minds and hardened hearts. They are potent weapons, but brittle weapons. They can be broken merely by casting truth on them.
