Former VP candidate, Bills QB Jack Kemp dies

WASHINGTON — Jack Kemp, the former Bills quarterback, Buffalo-area congressman, one-time vice presidential nominee and self-described "bleeding-heart conservative," died Saturday. He was 73.

Kemp died after a lengthy illness, according to spokeswoman Bona Park and Edwin J. Feulner, a longtime friend and former campaign adviser. Park said Kemp died at his home in Bethesda, Md., in the Washington suburbs.

Kemp had announced in January 2009 that he had been diagnosed with cancer. He said he was undergoing tests but gave no other details.

"Jackie" had one of the strongest arms in football...

The Bills won the AFL Championship in 1964 and 1965, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1966 Championship game after a year filled with numerous injuries and Lou Saban leaving as head coach...

That was the year of the first Super Bowl...

Those Championship Bills teams would have been a formidable opponent for Lombardi's Packers or any NFL team...
