Regardless of what they were or weren't, without them we wouldn't be living in a country now where a big problem to a school board is what to rename schools.

Doesn't matter what you think of America's pioneers and founders you can't forget we wouldn't have America without them. We wouldn't be living in a free country right now if it weren't for them.

And you can't forget hundreds of years ago and backwards slavery and such was common practice for almost the whole world because that's what it took back then to build societies. They didn't have bulldozers, excavators, cranes, electricity and so on. And most people in the world would were dumb and unskilled. It took harsh measures to build societies. It doesn't make it any better, but that's how the world ran and we wouldn't be where we are now if it weren't for the people who were hard enough to make it happen.

Every skin color has been a slave in the world at some point in time. Hell thousands and thousands of Chinese were abused to make the railways that connected our country but no one cares about them.

Now thanks to what this countries founders did we have a country where slavery isn't needed anymore.

Yep, as an alumnus of one of these high schools I'm very pleased to learn these kooks are gone. I was one who sent hundreds of letters to the editor of the Chronicle to recall the entire school board.

However, Progressives are not haters, those few kooks are outliers who rejected the history and the ethos, when most of them lived in very much different times. Keep in mind that we have not come to a time when the Preamble and words in the Declaration of Independence - Mission and Vision Statements - have been by the few accept equal rights, equal opportunities and equal justice for all. These core values are rejected overtly and covertly on Social Medial everyday, and in State Legislatures and in The Congress.

Nothing brings out the loons like the naming/renaming of a school.....The only one I remember that received no criticism at all in my county was a new elementary school named after the black Virginia History teacher I had in middle school.

The rest have been total cluster-fucks so a resolution was passed that says schools will be named/renamed by place/geographical names now.....Our newest HS was named Skyline High School because it sits at the entrance to the Skyline Drive.
