I vote Republican. The point I was making is the fact that winning public elections to control the three branches with ideologically aligned people is the goal of the political system that we have - it is not that difficult to figure out.

You are only describing your imagined understanding of the founders' intentions and the evolution of the system. Nobody knows how well anything was before they were consciously aware of monitoring the processes. And there is no way anybody can monitor government activities, especially the legislature. It is an incredibly complex process to process legislation from idea to law, and there is no way for the novice citizen to do so. I have tried - there is only so much CSPAN a person can watch and understand what they are seeing and hearing, and then there are all of the casual meetings that CSPAN is unable to capture.

What has happened is that the inadequacies of the three-part government separation have become more vulnerable because of the expansion of government, and the Democrats have been able to exploit that because of their inherent contest with the Republicans which are principled on small government and free market economy.

Political parties are not required to maintain any principle - they can sway and bend to appease any voting bloc that the leadership believes will enhance their ability to win more public elections.
