And it is far less costly to shut them down and replace them with renewables and storage, than to maintain them. That is why in the USA last year 90% of new generation was renewables.

So far as I know Al Gore did not continue college past his Bachelor's degree that he received for a government major. It is reported (not confirmed) that he did take one science class from a global warming guy when he was in college. But for certain he has no credentials or hands on experience as any kind of scientist--he is reported to have done very poorly in required science classes his freshman and sophomore years.
