Lots of things contribute to religious fervor, and growth of adherents... political, social climtes and the economy and education bear as much responsibility in many cases as the Holy texts themselves.

Look at nations where religion has been on the decline for decades and compare their socio-economic state to nations where religion has been on the rise...

I think those Irish would rather become British citizens instead of becoming muslims (a religion that forbids to drink beer: one of the national sports of Ireland ).
