That has absolutely nothing to do with knocking the dollar off as the global reserve currency. No one anywhere is stating that the Rouble is going to become a reserve currency. There are massive advantages to having the reserve currency in dollars for the US and we do not want to lose those advantages. it would have a very adverse effect on our economy.

I don't think you can make the assertion that the Crimea people are happy with it. The vote was held under the direct supervision of Russia's military and the press is being controlled by the same.
Crimea did not ask Russia to come and take the area over - Russia rolled in and did it on their own and claims that is what they want and has continually lied about what is occurring there and why they moved into the region. You can have issue with what the US did over there (I do as well) - it does not justify Russia's actions though.
The ultimate problem is that Russia is going around conquering other nations now and that is a serious problem for the stability of the world.
Isn't a superpower anymore?
Is it good or bad for dollar?
It shows how weak the Ruble is....and how strong the dollar has become...
