The US has always been involved in the relations between Central and South American countries. And back in March agreements were met regarding this. Not a treaty, but an understanding as well as a US position on any territorial aggression by any party.

America might feel the need to send a message that their backyard is not to be infiltrated by communists, especially those who poison their citizens.

But there is a concern here that Maduro and other libs might interfere, and a show of strength with the US Navy lets him know that this is happening to his regime's precious Drug Pushers.

It's been over 3yrs but the Kremlin is surprisingly waking up, if the US plans to arm Russia's border and give weapons to strike deep into Russia, Russia will arm US enemies. Give weapons to sink their ships and bases.

I think it's fair, that's deterrence and I'm surprised Russia just considering it after 3yrs+ of western provocation.

Russia all in for peace when the West is ready, but fighting with hands tied should end, red lines should have meaning, Russia also have cards against the West and it's time to put them on pressure too. Stop funding Nazis on Russia's border.
