Moving through high school you see workers that are more effective at certain things, but the number of areas is diminished.

Move into Jr. or Community collage, and there is virtually no advantage over a high school educated individual. Baccalaureate level offers advancements for those in science fields - engineers, medical, etc. And post graduate is highly specialized. An MBA is zero percent better as a factory worker than the high school educated.

My doctorate in logistics makes me very good at planning production flows. But this is a highly specialized field. If there are a thousand people with these credentials, most just aren't going to find work and will gain nothing useful from the education.

At each level, the investment increases exponentially, and the return diminishes.


Higher education is only productive in a very small portion of society - but that isn't what the education/industrial complex sells to the public.
