I think that everyone comes to God in their own way if at all. And apparently that's the way God wants it. So I'm pretty sure he wants us to love him for who he is rather than what he can do for us. With that said, my level of despair grows exponentially the further away I move from God. So that's not saying there are no practical benefits of a God filled life. Because there are. But the question will always come back to am I leading a God filled life to get practical benefits or because I love God.

That's not an entirely accurate way of saying it. God granted us free will. So he does allow us to do it our way. God doesn't want us to love him for what he can do for us. God wants us to love him for who he is. In that regard we are no different. It's not virtuous to be forced to be virtuous. We have to want to do it because it makes us feel good to be virtuous.

The wise believe Jesus. Matt 7:21-- Its chosen servitude not forced servitude. God knows 100% what is the best course of life for mortals, God tells us those things because he loves us. And he is the only one offering eternal life to those who choose to love him enough to know his ways is 100% best in a way that benefits our own lives in the long run. Example of what the world would be like if all listen to God. like if no one steals, no one commits adultery on their mates, no one murders, etc, etc. A world of love= What Gods kingdom rule will accomplish for faithful mankind.

Atheism isn't a religion and so no two atheists need to have anything in common other than a lack of belief in mainstream Christianity. My own lack of belief had grown stronger in the fact that the bibles have been compromised by the need to remain believable in the face of modern science.

Hence, stories such as Jonah and the big fish has the effect of driving away atheists who are intelligent enough to need an explanation that can be convincing. Christians don't have an answer

Modern science cannot explain the existence of life. No science explains how life was created out of simple atomic materials.
