Is the death penalty un-Christian or un-civilized?

Well, I've expressed my views on this before but some may not know: As Charlie Kirk so well-stated, a person who kills someone (for no reason) has already killed himself (something to that effect). Kirk was in favor of the death penalty. His wife says she is leaving that decision up to the state.

My own view is that someone who assassinates someone for merely speaking his mind is an incredibly dangerous person and a traitor to the American Way which is based on centuries-old Judeo-Christian laws. Also, Robinson is being charged (or last time I looked was charged) with... can't recall the exact words but it had to do with killing someone in the presence of a child (children).

All assassins should be executed (if it is indisputable he is the killer).

I've seen videos that question whether Robinson was the shooter, but the evidence saying he is the shooter is massive... assuming we can trust those "informing us." I sometimes feel that is not the case..

Based on the Bible, it is not only just, but it is also a means for maintaining civility within society and is the only penalty mentioned in all 4 books of the Torah.

In the Old Testament God himself instituted the death penalty for certain things so if it is uncivilized then is God un-Christian or un-civilized?

The church has put people to death for all sorts of reasons for thousands of years. Blasphemy, adultery, witchcraft, etc. The death penalty was super common back in the day. They burned little girls at the stake for crying out loud! They even tortured a bunch of very unfortunate people to death. :dunno:

The woman in the video questioning Kirk calls the death penalty Murder. No, it is not.

Sometimes I do wonder about the story of Cain, though. He murdered his brother and God didn't kill him... yet He got rid of Oza who merely touching the Ark of the Covenant to steady it, when only priests were allowed to touch it..

There are baffling things in the Bible... and yet whoever said God is totally understandable to humans?

I never said that and never will...

"My ways are not your ways, your thoughts are not My thoughts," God said (Isaiah 55, I believe).

The real translation of 'Thou shalt not kill' is actuall 'Thou shalt not murder.'

Many here don't believe in God or if they do, not necessarily the Bible

i have no problems with giving the death penalty. nor do i have any problems with the right to choose. at least i'm consistant.

however......

me thinx, JC ... having had the death penalty imposed on himself ... would say it's unchristian like to approve it.

Calm down, no one is suggesting we do any of that.

The question was specifically about the death penalty.

How is this unjust?

The question was "is it unchristian to execute people"? My response was very calm, and extremely accurate. I didnt say anything that you should take offense to. Im just listing facts to support my position. :dunno:

The Church didn't put people to death. Get some REAL information, for crying out loud.

The Church (clergy) would investigate a case against a suspected heretic (heresy was seen in those days as being treasonous and/or otherwise criminal). The person questioned had a chance to hear the TRUE doctrines of the Church. If he defied those doctrines, he was suspected of being a heretic. If he persisted in denying Church doctrine, he was handed over to the state and it was the STATE (kings, queens, etc) who decided if he should be put to death. If he recanted his heresy, he was not executed.

Prisoners who had committed other crimes usually asked to be tried by the Inquisition Court because they knew that the clergy feared God and would be fair w/ them.

Don't you know the devil hates Catholicism and puts out LIES constantly against it? He doesn't want you to be saved. He wants to drag you into Hell. And like a liberal, he LIES to achieve that nefarious goal.

Yes, I believe that girls were burned at the stake. Its very well documented in history. So is all the torture and death caused by the church. Ancient men were extremely violent.

Well, if you want to believe lies told by those who hate the Church Christ founded

that's on you.

You are just as capable as I am of finding the Truth but you don't appear to care about the truth, just what you hatefully choose to believe.

Yeah? Tell that to the poor women of Salem, or the hundreds of thousands of people who were massacred in the crusades.

Not enough states have and those that do take far too long to carry it out.

It's only consistent if you can equate the two as having a life to take, [and then you would have explain why you have no problem with the taking of an innocent life] the only thing that would seem consistent otherwise is your indifference to life.

it's human 'life' in the sense that it is human DNA to potentially become A life.

uh-huh.
