I just got my first iPhone. I never bothered with Alexa, if that's the smartphone version, but I liked a lot of the other features, so I thought I'd try Siri. Some observation:

The Irish, australian and English voices are much more American than I'd like. But I think that reflects reality. When I was a kid in the last century, accents were much more pronounced. Now it seems we have imported our accent, if not our love for personal and economic freedom.

There is a "South African" voice. It sounds very similar to the English voice to me, and I could not identify it as a Black South African. There are five American voices, but none of them have much of an accent. 1-4 seem to be youthful and mature American male and female. None of them sound like American blacks. Is the South African supposed to be that?

But number 5 . . . I suppose it is supposed to be a transgender person? It sounds like a male deliberatly changing his voice, which is the epitome of transgender.

So, why not have an African-American voice, which are a far larger percent of our population than trans folk?

I would like it much better if SIRI did recognizable celebrity voices..

Democrats could choose AOC and Hillary to guide them, or maybe Morgan Freman i suppose... the British could have Ozzy Ozbourne, I wouldnt mind having the voice of Arnold Swarzzenegger for kicks.

I didn't know I could get an Irish accent, Siri. I'll have to check my phone.

Now, that's an awesome idea!

What does an American black sound like?

Do they sound different than an American white person?

"Siri " is one early way to get Gullibles attached to programmed information .
Next, the Internet will be total AI and you will have no possible idea what is reality and what is manipulated .
Alternative info will be censored .

Within two years ? See WEF and Deep State for details .
Mugs .

No, not at all.

When I pick up the phone and a black person is on the other end, there is no way for me to tell at all.

A brilliant point, equally as wise as your many other statements.

Thanks!

Yes, someday we will turn government over to AI. The AI will immediately institute socialism, having been programmed to do so, and when it fails, and people try to end it, AI will find the next logical step and enslave us.

I've seen it with my own eyes many times.

Then what was the point of your thread?
Absolutely none.

Like you, I have never heard a voice on the phone, or on the radio, and assumed that it was a black person speaking. Because there is absolutley no difference whatsoever. Black Americans speak exactly the same as whites, and I mean 100% of them.

It's kind of like how it is impossible to tell a migrant worker from a multi-generation American citizen who happens to be of Latino descent.

Oh! Or how it is impossible to tell a transwoman from a so-called "biological woman." Even if you see them both naked, there would be no difference. If anyone sees one, they have the mental illness called "transphobia," which is a recognized disorder. It's in the book, look it up. If you don't see it, keep looking.

Last day of the year, and I'm finally getting the hang of being woke, I think.

How am I doing?

most do. There are some exceptions but most of those are trying to sound different. Do you think if you talked to Ben Carson on the phone without knowing who he was that you would go "yep, that is a black guy"

I work with a number of black folks, I would bet my house if you talked to them on the phone you would have no idea.

No, it is easy to tell who has English as a 2nd language and just learned it, or if they learned English outside of the US.

I am learning Spanish for my move after we retire, I know I will never sound like a local.

How am I doing?

you are failing as badly as always.

You bought an iPhone?? Fuck me, has someone pegged you!!

Yes, I would, actually. I just played some video of Ben Carson and he sounded like a black man. A well educated black man, but a black man. They are not mutually exclusive. I doubt seriously that he is trying to sound different. He grew up a black child and learned to talk like his black parents.

I work with a number of black folks, I would bet my house if you talked to them on the phone you would have no idea.
Yes, there are plenty of black folks who sound like white folks. Maybe they were adopted by a white family. More likely, I'd put them on trying to sound "the same," than on every other black person trying to sound "different."

Then I have a serious recommendation for you? The Pimsleur Learning System (or language system). Dr Pimsleur used psychological theory of learnnig to make a series of thirty minute audio tapes with the idea to listen to one each day, and practice speaking when told to. The parts of the lesson are timed for maximum retention.

At the time, copies were going for hundreds of dollars, so I had to bootleg a copy.

It worked for me after I had tried numerous times to learn Spanish. I don't sound like a native, but I can communicate the basics with the incoming migrant students who have mysteriously expanded to the point that my school had to hire a second teacher and aide for the Newcomer classes.

There is a pay webite for Pimsluer now with more pictures and video, but I can't vouch for it.

Well . . . I'll never be as good at being woke and pretending not to be as you are . . .
