It looks like it to me. You may disagree with him but being distasteful should not be illegal.

I saw a small clip of what got him banned and it seemed reasonable enough. The right has gone into overdrive on this issue with several leading members of the regime making unwise comments.

The killer has not even gone on trial yet.

It isnt the job of govt to stifle debate. That used to be an american belief but now it doesnt seem to be a thing.

It started with the banning of the AP and he got away with that. America needs an enshrined right to free speech not just approved speech.

Do you even have to ask?

Where are the 1st amendment constitutional Republicans on this? The only right winger who will condemn this is Papageorgio but then of course he will point to one thing Biden did and say Dems are no better or different.

As if what's going on right now is not insane.

I love it every time I tell my MAGA friend something fucked up Trump did, he says something like "good I'm glad because I never liked Kimmel, or Howard Stern......" He doesn't realize that doesn't matter. If you are for freedom, then you want people you don't like to be free too. Did Kimmel cross a line? Nope. He made fun of Trump's reaction to a reporter when he was asked if he's broken up about Charlie. Trump sure didn't seem too broken up. Is that a crime to point these things out?

I don't know where all the late shows get these tapes of politicians saying the craziest shit but if it weren't for these shows, none of us would see these things. And that's exactly what Republicans want. This is why they hate the media.

The only thing we can do is vote next year and I doubt these next elections will be honest.

First thing I must say, why would a "comedian" consider it entertaining to talk about politics regarding a dead who was assassinated?

This should be left to CNN, Fox, MSNBC and other biased news networks.

Furthermore, he suggested clearly for political reasons "he was a MAGA guy", which appears to be false on the face of it, but furthermore illustrated the usual "our team vs yours".

Beyond that, he should have a right to speak freely. I just question the logic of some. It's clear to me that there are forces looking to harm American within. They are on both sides to varying degrees, but the far-left are sewn up by the MSS, often unwittingly.

I sure recall how often in the past the left admonished the right and instructed those being fired for speaking right leaning thoughts that private companies can fire us for that and its perfectly legal.

🤔

So on the whole you agree.

On the whole, it's complicated.

I am a full supporter of free speech though and I am not in support of reactions to most grievances or crimes which are final in responses.

A week off of the air and a return with an apology would suffice for me. I imagine they didnt like his ratings and they are also trying to get their merger approved.

That's just me spit balling.

Colbert, now Kimmel.

The rest will be far more careful now, and that goes for every profession, which is how this works.

More parallels to the past. We continue to edge closer to fascism, and that appears to be what the flock wants.

In this instance the private company is under pressure from the government. Thats where the problem is. Colbert was another one.

We've been saying this for decades tommy, it just took a taste of your own medicine to realize just how distasteful it is...Kimmel is just the most recent in a long history of "crackdowns" on free speech, in fact this is quite new to white liberals who feel they are the only ones who should be afforded its protections...the problem here is your selective listening taste(s) when it comes to "free speech".

I’m not sure who needs to hear this but Jimmy Kimmel got on the air and falsely stated as a fact that Charlie Kirk’s killer was MAGA, smearing an entire movement and Trump in particular with a vile disgusting lie - and at a time when the threat against those on the right is at an all-time high.

This was after we knew from the UT gov that the killer had been indoctrinated into LEFT-wing ideology, after we’d seen the shooter’s bullet casings reflecting furry/trans memes, calling Charlie a fascist and w/anti-fascist lyrics. It was after we had learned the shooter was living with his trans-furry boyfriend and believed Charlie Kirk was “full of hate.” After we learned that the shooter was not registered GOP, but “unaffiliated.” After we saw him pull the trigger just as Charlie discussed trans killers. There was zero - ZERO - evidence the shooter was MAGA, had ever been MAGA, or was influenced by MAGA in any way.

This was an intentional lie to GIN UP HATRED toward the very group of ppl most suffering in the wake of our devastating loss of Charlie and Kimmel did it willfully and even gleefully to a cheering complicit audience.

ANY EMPLOYER IN MEDIA WOULD SEE HOW DEPRAVED AND SICK THIS WAS. (In 2021 ABC fired Chris Harrison for saying maybe we should judge a Bachelorette contestant’s attendance (years earlier) at an antebellum party by what was considered offensive at the time. FIRED! His career never recovered!)

The Left doesn’t believe ABC was genuinely horrified by Kimmel (& instead attributes this to the FCC threat). That’s bc even they know ABC has no moral core (we agree with you - it doesn’t).

But what the Left doesn’t seem to understand and needs to hear is that MAGA has f&cking HAD IT. We are ANGRY. We are INCENSED watching the L smear us, our ppl, literally getting some of our friends killed (not to mention our president shot and nearly assassinated again weeks later) and then LYING about it. (“Trump faked his injury! He wasn’t actually shot!” “We have no idea what the motives ever are … if they are bad for our side!”)

I have zero doubt ABC was overwhelmed with absolutely furious calls/comments/emails from truly-FED UP viewers, and knew it had crossed a deadly serious line.

In short, GOOD RIDDANCE.

You would be wise to find other subjects to cover. Not the intent of the first amendment I imagine.

He's not a victim. He got shitcanned by his employer for his low ratings (like Colbert), and his offensive behavior in the workplace.

You'll have to find your blackface entertainment elsewhere now, you dumb ******* monkey.

It is white liberals who paved this road [for their own use of course] now they are upset because of its use by others...things like "hate speech laws" are designed by liberals to skirt the constitution and they should have been your wake-up call [as that is the speech that requires protection, not the speech that is approved of] trying to confiscate fire arms should be your red flag as to who did this as it is every bit an unconstitutional act and under even greater fire than the first...you cannot cherry pick the constitution as others are just going to want their turn.

Being a Brit who does not have free speech I’m not surprised that you dont know what it is

Kimmel is free to stand on a street corner and insult trump all day long

In the UK you cant attack or insult muslims or gays because the government can arrest you
