The church viewed science as learning how God created the universe. It wasn't an enemy at all, they embraced it overall, and they were well ahead of anyone outside of the Church. You would have been in a hut eating mud in the year 1000 with your secular/atheist belief, and you wouldn't be able to build any society because everyone would just take what they could and not care about compassion or Charity for others. Christianity basically invented charity, you benefit from it today, but your society would be harmed by not having it. You were born on the 3rd base of morality living in America (where its founding document is based on Judeo-Christian values) and think you hit a triple. It's time you got a clue.
