Is Coronavirus a serious health threat to most Americans?

From what I have read, Coronavirus does not pose a serious health threat to most Americans. Children seem to be immune, and healthy adults experience mild flu-like symptoms or no symptoms at all. If this is true, why are we effectively quarantining our entire population rather than just those who are at risk of life-threatening illness?

I'm wondering if the cruise ship off the coast of San Francisco was a gay cruise would the Governor kept them away.

Tell that to the family's that have had family members die. Beyond the health issues, the monetary cost to American business. How many trillions?

Anyone with half a brain has been told how to react to this virus. If you are in a vulnerable group, avoid large crowds. Observe all sanitary protocols, especially washing hands. And if you exhibit any symptoms, stay away from people. How fucking hard is that to understand? Even for Democrats?

I suppose we will have to wait and see. It hits 50+ the hardest but also younger people depending on their health. We have a lot of younger adults that are immune compromised in one form or another.

34.2 million people, or 10.5% of the U.S. population, have diabetes. An estimated 26.8 million people - or 10.2% of the population - had diagnosed diabetes. Approximately 7.3 million people have diabetes but have not yet been diagnosed (2018). Diabetes impacts all social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds.

We have a lot of people that do not stay home when they are sick and they sure do not keep their children at home when they are sick.

It's a threat to human life!

But not of itself.

Only because of Democrat promoted hysteria that will end up with people killing each other to get stuff once the shelves are bare.

Stupid people enable bad results. Democrats will always be with us.

Does this have something to do with Coronavirus?

The Wuhan Virus takes out immune compromised peeps; diabetics young and old fall into that category in case you were unaware of that.

So how many otherwise healthy people with diabetes have died from Coronavirus? Is there some specific connection you are aware of?

Media induced madness and the simple fact that most people in this nation are willing members of a herd and behave accordingly. There's more wildebeest about them than a higher form of thinking, reasoning life that they pretend to be or think they are.

according to the numbers so far it is NOT a serious health risk for MOST people...

however it is deadly to about 3% of the population.

a conservative might say "3%? that's nothing...who cares....because all life is NOT precious!".....

but rational people will contend that they, themselves, do not want to be part of the unfortunate statistics.

Now...if conservatives want to volunteer to be the mere, measly, insignificant 3%.......?

Ok, there's like 320 million people in America.

Experts say 40-70 percent will.vet the virus. Call it 55%, right in the middle. That's 176 million cases.

So far, it's seem like somewhere between 10 & 20% are serious and require some sort of intervention. We'll go with the median and call it 15%. That's 26,400,000 seriously ill people. You think we have anything approaching the beds and staff needed for that?

And even if we keep the death toll at 1% that's 1,760,000 deaths.

Sounds pretty serious to me

This thread is about Coronavirus, not "conservatives." And where did you get the idea that it is deadly to 3% of Americans?

Go back to your sheltered workshop and get off this thread.

The rest of your numbers are BS.

Bloomberg, Soros and the ChiComs are coordinating the hysteria to the Coronavirus. Not even 600 people infected in the USA!

There are several articles on it. Here is one. You can search others if the subject interest you. Diabetes, CVD Tied to Worse Prognosis for COVID-19 Infection

Neither this nor any other article I could find establishes a specific connection between Diabetes and Coronavirus. All they say is that the likelihood of having Diabetes increases with age and that older people with other serious illnesses (especially heart and lung diseases) are more vulnerable to Coronavirus.
