CNN's Michael Smerconish in his opening dialogue on his program today said something which I believe most responsible Americans think which is that the Trump Administration's justification for entering into the Iran/Israeli war is that Iran was weeks to months away from building a nuclear bomb well if that is the truth come forth with the intelligence you have to prove it the stakes involved demand it, if the intelligence is classified no problem members of Congress are certified to see classified information show your evidence to them and they can report to the American public if the Administration has the proof or not! As a people Americans must demand our government act as a good people we cannot be compelled to live in this Trump World where President Trump gets to act like this unaccountable authoritarian just go around doing as he wills, bombing Iran's Fordow nuclear development facility is an act of war the U.S. Congress should debate this, communicate to the American people the rationale for the war and the end game (how does this end) and all members of Congress should go on the record indicating whether America has the moral justification to go to war with Iran!
Numerous people have commented in the media in a general sense the stakes involved with America bombing Iran but they have not made clear the specific types of repercussions and the painfully high costs to the American people. Iran will view America's bombing campaign as America joining in the war on the side of Israel and will retaliate. So America will be liable for the harm Israel has caused and in a few more weeks of this war all told the IDF will have flown close to a thousand sorties and probably close to a thousand drone and missile strikes they probably will have killed at least three to four thousand Iranians. America has troops in Iraq, Syria, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and several other countries in the area of the Middle East. Besides Iran and Iranian militia's in Iraq using conventional weapons to attack American troops in the Middle East, Iran has more troublesome options there is ten thousand plus Isis fighters in Syria in the camps Iran could decide to arm them there and unleash them on U.S. troops in Northern Syria or smuggle them out of Syria and unleash them on other areas where troops are in the Middle East. Further, today enemies don't need big weapons like howitzers to hurt a developed country with the advent of drones asymmetric attacks are a real very dangerous threat; it is possible that a small Iranian terrorist cell could get a half dozen to a dozen drones strap a bomb on each of them and crash them into some U.S. embassy around the world; how many dozens of Americans could be killed or wounded in such an incident. America's leaders including members of Congress have a duty to tread carefully in facilitating or acquiescing in America entering into a major war like this!
For the Diplomatic situation the Trump Administration has drawn a red line that Iran is not going to be permitted to enrich Uranium in the future; and Iran has drawn a red line that they are not giving up their right to enrich uranium. Everyone needs to stop pressuring Iran to give up their right to enrich Uranium everyone needs to see Iran's point of view. Remember their arch enemy Israel has the right to enrich Uranium why shouldn't they; Iran is the key Shiite Islamic country in the world, Saudi Arabia and other Sunni Islamic countries are planning to get nuclear power where they will have the ability to enrich uranium and thus the potential to build a nuclear bomb it is important for security and stature interests for Iran to be able to be on par with the other Sunni countries here; plus this war was an unjust attack on Iran, Iranian leadership had not made the decision to build a nuclear bomb and there was no substantive plan to build a nuclear bomb how can they be expected to make this concession after this unjust war was waged against them that killed and maimed thousands of their people and how can they be expected to make this concession and reward these far right Israeli leaders with their for decades made false accusations Leaders should be pressuring the Trump administration to compromise, the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is eighty-five years old and in suspect health he certainly will be dead in fifteen years why don't the parties do the obvious deal where Iran cannot enrich Uranium in Iran for fifteen years allow Iran to enrich uranium in some facility in Europe so Iranian scientist can keep the know-how from not being lost in their scientific community! Iran should not make a condition of negotiations a cease fire with Iran one America cannot deliver that Israel is too strong willed and they have their agenda and Iran needs to consider the negotiations are too important they could keep America out of the war - Trump is not a guy you want to fight he will use disproportionate force; plus, current events are not all good for the Israeli government (Iranian bomb sites in Israel show devastating scenes Israelis thankfully are not being killed because they are in bomb shelters but bomb warning systems regularly fail the scenes show unavoidable wars with Iran are not a good policy, in addition, this war shows that the Israeli government is running out of interceptors they are going to need to get resupplies from America and America Navy ships have to come to the region of Israel to use their interceptors to shoot down Iranian missiles to protect Israeli citizens which starkly undermines the Israel government narrative that we don't need anybody we can go it alone we are self-sufficient - no you aren't guys you need America and this Israel/Palestinian conflict which is at the root cause of the current conflict needs to be solved specifically a just two state solution needs to be reached so the Israel/Palestinian conflict burden can get off America's back!
In the media prestigious retired American Generals are carted in front of the camera and asked their view on the Iran/Israeli matter and they all take it as a given that America would be justified in bombing Iran the American people need to be cautioned that these people are trained to fight wars, to use military assets to defeat America's enemies they are not trained to be statesman they are not trained to insure that the decision to use military force comports with international law and moral principles. It was shocking this past week when General H.R. McMaster, a former National Security Advisor, publicly said why would Iran be enriching uranium to sixty percent unless they were planning to build a nuclear weapon; well General they began enriching uranium to that level back in April of 2021 and many expert believe they did that so they would have a chip to trade in negotiating a nuclear deal with the Biden administration because in the Obam deal they made a concession to turn over their enriched uranium. The American public also needs to consider that European leaders and many others throughout the world are taking the side of Trump and the Israel government about Iran's need to now give up the right to enrich Uranium; but, they are all doing it because they don't want Trump to get into the war because they know Iran will retaliate and the ensuing cycle of violence between Iran and President Trump will leave a massive amount of harm that will be very regrettable. America best be careful here because after this brinkmanship episode ends the publics in these important countries will largely believe the truth that Iran did not make the big step to build a nuclear bomb that this whole war was the execution of a long wanted agenda by Israel's far right government and the country of America and its government are not to be trusted because they are not good they backed this injustice and the American people will be the losers for this outcome!

America we are over a hundred times larger than Israel we have thirty five times more people and our society is more open it would be easier to smuggle in weapons and personnel into America. I am really surprised on this issue at some of the members of Congress how they are not acting like leaders of a great country who act on moral principles on important matters rather they are acting as uneducated and unintelligent people their duty is to be leaders for common people not to imitate their worst members. I am referring here to people like Senator John Kennedy who is a very bright lawyer and on this Iran/Israel question sounds like a thug not a Senator of a great country like America! Back to today's CNN Smerconish program a viewer sent in a comment why doesn't America just sell the Israel government two B-2 bombers and like nine GBU 57 Massive Ordinance Penetrator Bombs which will enable the IDF to take out the Fordow site and America doesn't have to get its hands dirty and doesn't have to enter into the war. That is a great idea most of Israel combat planes are American made planes, America sells bombs to Israel all the time and Israel combat pilots are the best in the world surely they can in a couple of weeks be brought up to speed on how to fly and operate the B-2 bomber. The Fordow site is the game that is where Iran has its only remaining key nuclear weapons facility, the Israelis will then have the ability to take out the site and then there is no need for America to enter the war! One last point a prudent person would have to say the Iranian government is a relatively smart government when the Trump Administration killed the famous Iranian General of the Islamic Republican Guard, Qasem Soleimani, the retaliation was measured when they retaliated against a major Israel attacks last year it was tempered not to trigger a cycle of violence. Now ever since 2022 when there was a large uprising against the Iranian government triggered by the death of the young Iranian women Mahsa Amini and the brutal suppression against the uprising there is a significant popular discontent with the Iranian government which has produced amazing opportunities for Israel Intelligence Services to enlist Iranian citizen spies throughout the Iranian government and the Iranian government knows this because of the Israel governments tremendous military results against Iran over the past two years so why would the Iranian government order the restarting of the nuclear weapons program certainly they would have had to know with so many spies in the government they would be caught solid evidence like photos and written documentation would be provided to the Israeli Intelligent Services and with that they would definitely face a brutal war with Israel which they so deftly tried to avoid in 2024, last year!
