Iran's dissidents.

It seems that Iran's dissident population is largely urban, and not as great in numbers as believed.

That was a great article. I mean this war has demonstrated an incredible amount of utter ineptitude within the Trump administration. It is not like someone dropped the ball, it is like everyone did. I mean it is a rolling train wreck. Where was the Intel?

Yes, there is a disaffected secular elite in Tehran and a handful of other cities that genuinely yearns for a liberal, westward-facing Iran. Their courage, demonstrated in the Woman, Life, Freedom protests of 2022 and again in the January 2026 uprising, is real and admirable. Their numbers, relative to the country’s vast rural and conservative population, are small. The distance between their social media posts and the political center of gravity in a deeply religious, Shia-majority nation is enormous.

And when we bomb Iran, who do we hurt? The very people were are fantasizing that are going to take over the government of Iran. Imagine France, sure Patriots, we will help. We will sit outside Boston Harbor and blow the city to smithereens. Hope that helps. We are going to bomb their power plants. Because hell, no one needs power more than some religious nutcase, ask the Amish.

I know Trump is bored of the war now, but seriously, how do we extract ourselves? The Straits of Hormuz are closed? Damn, someone needs to tell that to India and Pakistan, their tankers are moving.

Trump is making the world a safer place.
MAGA dissidents are ineffectual as well, as the fanatics hold sway in that camp as well.

Those who took the wonky warlord's "America First" rhetoric seriously were not suckered in by his sudden "about face" globalist interventionism.

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly on Friday criticized right-wing politicians and commentators for “pushing” Trump to launch military operations against Iran.
“As this goes south, we need to know exactly who talked him into it and what representations were made to convince the president that this was a good idea,” Kelly said.

The former Fox News host specifically named Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “first and foremost” and said Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) was “equally to blame.”

Kelly also slammed conservative podcaster Ben Shapiro for “pushing this war” on his show and said radio host Mark Levin was “chief among” the right-wing advocates for military action against Iran.
“There were very prominent activists on the right who were frothing at the mouth for this thing,” Kelly said. “And now that it’s not only going poorly, but Trump's poll numbers are in a precipitous free fall, we’d love to see some accountability. Who? Who promised him what?”
Elder abuse?

Am I the only forum member to notice how it is only the site conservatives who support liberalism while the leftists here all despise it?

Good post. I like actual thinkers even if I don't always agree 100% of the time. Trump's cult followers are irritating little pissants who can't form an original thought even if you toss them a cookie. Low IQ shills, puppets, lemmings, and cucks -- the lot of them.

At least according to that one author, however, I've heard from other Iranians which supports that many would love to be free of the mullahs, probably why there was celebration throughout Iran when our attacks began with killing the Ayatollah.

Hardcore Trumpers have morphed from MAGA "America Firsters" to neo-globalist interventionists as if suddenly retrogressing to the GOP of the Dubya Bush era, while showing no signs of self-awareness of their startling transformation.

Is Iran their new Iraq?

...Cheney and Rumsfeld, along with George W. Bush Administration figures Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, and Douglas J. Feith, were neoconservatives who pined for the days of former President Ronald Reagan and American global political and military domination. They were also admirers of the Israeli Likud Party governments of Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir, and Ariel Sharon. American and Israeli policy objectives, as well as a shared total disregard for international humanitarian law and the United Nations, were increasingly inseparable following the September 11, 2001, al-Qaeda attacks on the United States. By 2002, both countries proudly subscribed to an aggressive principle of military pre-emption...
As members of the Project for the New American Century, neoconservatives venerated a vision of the United States that, despite its focus on foreign affairs and military interventions abroad, had a lot in common with the domestic anti-democratic and authoritarian tendencies of the Trump regime of 2017.
