There is a nearly forgotten ethical principle that has long existed in Western, Judeo-Christian culture: A desirable end cannot be used to justify an evil means.

the language of force is very simple; you prove, a few decades or centuries or even millenia in a row, that your armies are stronger than theirs.
Iran does no different each time after a succesful strike against Israel for instance, but they'd rather not see that appear anywhere online whenever they feel they have to pacify through false diplomacy some actually militarily superior foe, like that US fleet now assembling around their poor-ass backward country.
