If the US corporate media showed those dead children on tv news every night, as they would if Russia were slaughtering thousands of Ukrainian children, Americans would be outraged. I suspect most Americans have no idea the horrors Israel is committing, or will claim that’s just the way it is in war or Hamas uses them as human shields. They can justify genocide because they’re ignorant.

About the squirrel, seriously. After the first wave of outrage, of course, the excuses started: “It's a routine procedure, that's the law, and he didn't received the license himself”.
For me, this is one of the most despised and hated types of people. Kissers of the state boot, slaves of Kafkaesque bureaucracy. The soulless letter of the law instead of the spirit of the law. law for law, not for people (and other living things). At every step in the fulfillment of that law, it was possible to leave an innocent being alive.
All rules and laws are ONLY for humans (and other living beings), each case is unique and in each case, one should make every effort to do the least amount of evil possible. I realize that Reductio ad Hitlerum is such a trope, but to me all these people who “well, it was by law” are no different than those for whom the Holocaust was by law.
