Instagram-famous squirrel seized by authorities in New York. His rescuer is fighting to get him back

Except a pet squirrel isn't harmless.

A squirrel isn't a pet, it's a wild animal.

He had it for 7 years from when it was barely born.

Animals can be tamed or trained if they are not domesticated.

Dogs and Cats are pets. They've been bred for thousands of years to be pets.

Deer and squirrels are not pets.

This one was a pet, raised from youth by the man in question. It was tame, if not domesticated.

no, they really can't.

Ask Roy Horn about how "tame" Mantacore was. Raised it from a cub, but at the end of the day, it was still a wild animal that nearly mauled the poor fool to death.

Dogs and Cats are Domesticated because - wait for it - we have used 10,000 years of selective breeding on them.

Squirrels are still wild animals no matter how many tricks they learn to get a treat.

You are comparing a tiger to a squirrel?

Domesticated just makes it default to tame, and yet dogs and cats still go nanners and attack people all the time.

Figures you would be cheering on the government goons in this situation.

That's the point. They default to tame.

A squirrel can do a lot of damage, especially if it contracts rabies.

Laws are on the books for a reason.

And a tame pit bull can do massive damage if improperly trained or not trained at all.

A squirrel. Damage.

Do you even understand how fucking retarded you sound?

A lot of laws are idiotic and government overreach.

And even if the law in question has a point, a 5 hour search for and euthanizing of a squirrel and raccoon is overreach.

The only reason you are being the way you are about this is the right is presenting it as an example of government nanny state overreach.

Yes, squirrels can do a lot of damage. I had some in my attic, they wrecked a bunch of shit.

Pit Bulls were bred to be vicious.

Nope, this law is completely sensible.

The guy had a raccoon, too?

The reason why Peanut had to be euthanized is because he bit one of the Animal Control officers.

I've removed them from attics as well. wild squirrels, not a 7 year old one raised from infancy to be a pet.

The law was over-enforced as is par for government thuggery.

Wildlife protection? Authoritarian Democrats?

I rescued a squirrel once. I kept it outside though. First photo is the rescue. Next two photos were just a local friend who would let themselves in for a snack.

Why is he trying to get him back if they already killed him? Does he want a funeral service and burial?

The guy had two wild animals on his property, one of which was a species known for carrying rabies. One of these animals bit an animal control officer.

They had no reason to seize them in the first place beyond government overreach. give the guy a ticket.

You know, you don't have to defend every single shitty thing the gvt. does, just becasue it's a Democrat administration.
